According to Books-A-Billion, an online book store, Gears of War is going to get it's own novel, written by Steven Kent and published by Ballantine Books. I wonder what it will be focusing on?

A number of popular video games have been turned into cartoons, movies, and sometimes even books. Well, for the bookworm gamers around, here's something for you. A Gears of War novel.

According to a listing on Books-A-Million, an online book store, "Gears of War 1" (probably a working title) will be written by Steven Kent and published by Ballantine Books. Steven Kent used to be a video game journalist but moved on to writing science fiction (notably about clones in the Rogue Clone and The Clone Republic).

We're already wondering how the book will turn out - and what storyline it will tackle. Marcus' maybe? Or maybe the invasion... Hmm, we'll know what the book is all about once it comes out. So far, the Books-A-Million website lists the ETA as August this year. Stay tuned for more news and updates on Epic Games' Gears of Wars.

TBH I have no idea what Gears of War is about even though I've played through it one and a half times. The story line is a total mess. If they can release a book to give more background it would really round out the universe.

Well, I haven't played the game, but I hear it's awesome. In my opinion, I find it a little funny, but it could be a good book.

I think a graphic novel would fit this game even more. I really like graphic novels compared to regular novels.

Granted, I never played Gears of War, but a book would help clear up the storyline quite a bit. Just look at the Halo series. At the beginning of Halo 1, I had no idea what the hell was going on. At least reading the novels helped me understand how the whole war started.

I've played Gears of War a few times with some friends and I love the videogame. The idea of a book sounds interesting. I might get it and check it out. I hope it's good.

I may of not ever played the game but still a novel for the game? That would be awesome I think. It would be something I would check out if it turned out good.

if you ask me its kinda stupid... I just find all books concerning video games unoriginal.

I agree, Doughnuts. And they really shouldn't try to expand on merchandise with this series, otherwise I'd end up hating it -_-

@Doughnuts: Have you read any of the Halo books? If not you should check them out before disregarding video game novels. IMO they are very well written and show that Halo's storyline is much more than what you see in the games.

And a Gears of War novel might mean that it's story isn't total crap

Yeah, I totally got lost with the story in Gears of War. It was a kickass game, though.

I might check out this book once it's released.
