Very interesting. 80GB Playstation 3's were only suppose to be available in South Korea. Spokesperson Satoshi *bleep*uka was hoping to expand on this and release the bigger hardrive in other territories. Yet a 80GB Playstation 3 has been seen listed at Best Buy Canada. SPG went back to the site to check and it seems to have magically dissapeared. Did someone make a mistake? Is the 80GB PS3 already here? Nobody knows, except Sony of course.

Sony has repeatedly maintained that the super behemoth PlayStation 3 unit carrying a 80GB hard drive will only be available in South Korea. For now. Spokesperson Satoshi *bleep*uoka was once quoted saying they are looking into the possibility of the said version of the console being released in other territories.

Despite all these, online site Sony Protection Group (SPG) claims that some people have sighted a listing of the 80GB PS3 at Best Buy Canada. What's weird is that all features are the same (SKU, Web Code, not to mention pricing) except for the HDD capacity. SPG went back to the site and, what do you know, the listing was gone.

Could this be a slip-up from Best Buy? Is the 80GB PS3 already hiding somewhere here in the West only waiting to be unearthed? Or is this the work of a truly skillful hand well-versed in Photoshop magic? To be quite frank, there are still many questions surrounding this matter and only Sony can provide the answers.

While the company is still keeping mum about this, why don't you check the screen capture of the page first and tell us what you think about it?

Wow, I wish I was the guy to have bought that PS3. 80 gigs is a lot of processing memory to run on, which would make me very happy. ~_^ Nice find.

It's only hard drive space, not processing memory.

I live in Canada, so I would've jumped on it, but I'm not that interested in a PS3 at the moment.

Hmm. According to the article the only difference between the 60GB PS3 and the 80GB PS3 is 20GB more memory. The article also said it was the same price as the 60GB PS3. Well if the article is true I would totally get the 80GB PS3 over the 60GB PS3 any day.

Same price? That would be amazing but that really doesn't make any sense. Sony would just be losing on their own deal.

Either way I think it would be cool if these found their way to the US. Not that I'm going to get a PS3 anytime soon, but it would be pretty nifty if it was around when I decide to get one in the future.

If it was the same price then it would be a better idea to get it if it was actually real. Anyways pretty lucky for whoever got it.

I still wouldn't get it, the 80 gig version is going to be like the Europe version in that it cant play many ps2 and ps1 games and it isn't a wide open as the 60 gig in the us and japan

would rather pu tin my own 80 gig hard drive

I would never need 80GB. Ever. I think this was either a slip up by the guy typing the list or a hacker with no life who felt like doing this.

What's the point when you can attach any cheap external HDD?
