I'd like to go with the former cause it sounds so cool.
Honestly, I really don't understand why someone would commit suicide just because they couldn't play games.
Currently I have all my consoles packed and the power cable of my PC removed because I've been playing too much. (I'm using a phone right now.) But you don't see me commit suicide, do you?
To kill yourself over games is not only unethical, but it seems that it can't be that important. You won't be able to EVER play them again, and not only that there are several other ways to vent your rage.
He either wasn't thinking clearly, had a mental illness (probably genetic) or video games to him are more important than his life.
Even though now he can never play them again.
Besides, why should the 80% of people who are perfectly fine with games suffer for a couple of idiots who can't control themselves?
Regardless, this is a rather sad event. My condolences to the family.
Kids, even teenagers (yes I know, teens here will be ALL over me on this and I'll probably get flamed for it) do not have a solid connection between the frontal lobe of their brain. The frontal lobe is the logic side, the one that makes smart and wise decisions.
People often do not get a solid connection with that part of the brain, until mid-20's even. So, with the logic side of the brain not fully used, kids and teens are very impressionable. Addictions happen easily too, and when something, like in this situation video gaming, is taken away, can you expect kids to react smartly? Why do you think kids tend to be "I want!" and "It's about me first!" for the most part when it comes to their desires? That's another part of the brain which develops first, with the logic trailing behind.
This isn't mental illness . . . This is just a show of how impressionable kids and teens (flame shield is already up) are, especially when it comes to things which bring them pleasure. What was the kid thinking? He wasn't.
This is also why parenting is not an easy job, but must be done. Not just being all rules, but fun in moderation, and when rules come into play, EXPLAIN WHY!
My prayers for the parents, family, and all involved in such a tragedy.
I believe that some thai series on TV are 10X worst than any videogame addiction .They show the new life style of the "winner" : you must be rich and have pale skin ... No wonder that some kids suicide.
Way too over the top and anyway that child must have had something wrong with him if he couldn't see the bigger picture and that he would eventually get them back.
