Square Enix has launched two news websites pertaining to upcoming remakes of the classic Secret of Mana (official site), and Star Ocean: Blue Sphere (official site), a Japan-only title for the Game Boy Color -- this one is planned to remain within the region, still.

Another downside is the games are only planned for mobiles as of yet, which are huge in Japan's gaming world. For us Westerners that generally prefer our games on consoles (handheld or otherwise), we have reason to be optimistic however, as Squenix's previous mobile ventures were eventually ported -- Final Fantasy IV: The After for WiiWare in North America, and Front Mission 2089: Border of Madness for DS in Japan. Plus, the company has stated they're working on several DSiWare projects.

Capcom, meanwhile, are reviving their lovely Breath of Fire series, bringing the fourth game to mobiles. Screenshots can be found here.

Not from me! I still have fond memories of Secret of Mana for the SNES, so it's great to see the trio redone. Now the Sprite looks even more androgynous. Shame it's currently stuck on mobile. Same with Breath of Fire, I actually played all the games in that series!
