Gaming Target gazes into their crystal ball and predicts what will appear at E3 09 including Grand Theft Auto Wii, Star Fox Wii, a PSP redesign and Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360.

Rockstar will announce Grand Theft Auto Wii
I first spotted Grand Theft Auto Wii in my crystal ball during the run-up to E3 07. In the two years since, Rockstar still has yet to unveil a GTA game for this generation's most popular console. But with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars putting up some respectable sales numbers on the DS, I think now is the time for the series to make the jump to the Wii.

I wouldn't venture to guess about whether it'll be a collection of previous GTA games (like the mockup to your left), or if it will be a completely new game, but Grand Theft Auto on the Wii is a guarantee. For real this time!

If the DS game is any indication, the Wii version of GTA will be absolutely great, but only sell like 2 copies.

I would actually say that a Wii version would sell better, since I imagine the Wii demographic as a secondary/general console would be more in line with the GTA crowd. I don't think the franchise particularly resonates with the Nintendo core audience though.

If it follows in the style of GTA3 I can see it been popular, Wii or no Wii. If it's still in the style of the older GTAs, then no apparantly the fanbase for that have all vanished =(
Here's hoping it succeeds though, if just because I have a sick desire to here about some story of someone being murdered by Wiimote and then 'GTA Wii' been blamed, and the media doing their usual frenzy.
Bad humour aside though, I do think GTA Wii would do better than Chinatown Wars did at least.

GTA Wii would probably sell better than Chinatown Wars. The Wii gets like what? 1-2 games on an average month that can actually warrant purchases? As opposed to the DS which can have up 3-4 good games released simultaneously. But I suppose it boils down to preference. However, the Wii releases for each month are usually considerably less than the DS. Going by that logic, GTA Wii would have a better chance of standing out amongst the vast sea of shovelware.

Chinatown Wars had "respectable sales numbers"?! LOL, for a GTA game its sales were appalling. Heck, for a DS game its sales were appalling. No way did it come anywhere close to being a system mover.

It would be the same deal for the Wii. Simply not enough hardcore gamers, and parents won't be buying their kids it either.

Haha, Grand Theft Auto on the Wii. xD I don't know what other people think about it, but I think it's a waste of time to put GTA on the Wii. If a gamer is looking for a console with hardcore games, they'll turn to the PS3 or 360 long before the Wii.

I personally think the Wii should just stick to it's family entertainment games really, GTA won't get many sales on Wii, not like it would on the 360 or PS3.

Not that I'm bashing the Wii here or anything because I have one myself that I enjoy playing, but I don't think hardcore games go too well on a Wii. x.x

Well this is interesting. A Grand Theft Auto game for Wii. I'm to check this out. And hopefully get this when it comes out. Not only GTA is fun to play but might be even better to play it on a Wii. Hmmm...
