The new Tony Hawk game is set to reinvent the skateboarding games much like Skate did, but with an actual motion sensing skateboard. But with such a cool peripheral, it comes with a price. The game plus the skateboard will most likely be set at 120 dollars. And it is required that you have it as you won't be able to play the game without it.

The skateboard peripheral-packing Tony Hawk: Ride will be sold in a bundle for $120, according to new GameStop listings.

The peripheral uses tilt sensors to control general movement, while infra-red sensors allow players to perform grabs.

Well that's a terrible decision on their part.

Judging upon the last Tony Hawk game I've played, a new Tony Hawk might not even be worth $60, let alone $120. Only way I'll ever spend more than $100 on a skateboarding game is if it reviews outstanding (9/10, 9.5/10) scores.

No other way to play? Even Guitar Hero lets you play with a normal controller, and that package only costs about $90. With Skate 2 being the best skating game since THPS2, and much cheaper, I doubt people will want to drop $120 on something that works for one franchise.

I bought one Hawk game after THPS2, and I immediately traded it in. I think it was Underground or some shit. Anyway, I think it's time to call it quits Tony.....you had a great run.....HAD buddy, that's past tense.

Wouldn't say this is much of a reinvention as I saw a skateboarding game in an arcade, with a skateboarding controller, like 5 or 6 years ago.

I think the game you're talking about is even older than that.

Putting a price tag on a franchise entry which has hardly been upto standard in recent years is risky. The desicion to not be able to play without the peripheral is a silly one.
