Nintendo of America revealed today that Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will be made available on the Wii Shop Channel on Monday, making it the 100th such title to hit the Virtual Console. The Virtual Console service has proven to be wildly successful for Nintendo, as the company claims more than 4.7 million downloads since the Wii launched on November 19th of last year.
Despite the availability of nearly 100 retro releases, the most popular titles are hardly surprising. Here's a hint: the top five titles make great use of the capitalized letters "S" and "M," with one big "Z" near the end. Lost? "With an Internet connection rate reaching 40 percent, Wii owners have more options than ever to find the kinds of games they love to play," said George Harrison, senior VP of marketing and corporate communications at Nintendo of America.

Originally released for the NES in 1988, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will be available for download on Monday for 500 points ($5).
