Wii Milestone: Zelda II to be 100th Downloadable Title

An important milestone is coming to the Wii Shop: It's 100th downloadable title, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The title is set to be released this upcoming Monday for 500 points.

With so much success the Wii has had lately, it isn't such a big surprise that this milestone is being passed. Hopefully they will continue to set forth in bringing several classic games into our homes in the future.

Nintendo of America revealed today that Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will be made available on the Wii Shop Channel on Monday, making it the 100th such title to hit the Virtual Console. The Virtual Console service has proven to be wildly successful for Nintendo, as the company claims more than 4.7 million downloads since the Wii launched on November 19th of last year.
Despite the availability of nearly 100 retro releases, the most popular titles are hardly surprising. Here's a hint: the top five titles make great use of the capitalized letters "S" and "M," with one big "Z" near the end. Lost? Here are the top five most downloaded games worldwide, according to Nintendo:

Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Super Mario World (SNES)
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
"With an Internet connection rate reaching 40 percent, Wii owners have more options than ever to find the kinds of games they love to play," said George Harrison, senior VP of marketing and corporate communications at Nintendo of America.

Originally released for the NES in 1988, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will be available for download on Monday for 500 points ($5).

Wow. After Monday the Wii will have up to 100 downloadable games through their VC. Nice to see a Zelda game helping the Wii make the impressive milestone.

Nothing beats Zelda really, so I think it's good that they are celebrating the milestone with a game like that.

It's great to see they are at 100 games already though. That seemed to have gone by fast. Can't wait for more.

The milestone is great. The Title getting it isnt its the only official Zelda title I just couldnt get into
