Electronic Theatre reports on the E3 2009 revelation that Microsoft will be bringing a Games on Demand download service to the Xbox 360 later this year.

Microsoft has announced that they will launch a brand new service for Xbox LIVE! gamers later this year, allowing full retail games to be downloaded direct to the console. The “Games on Demand” service does away with the Microsoft Points system, and will launch this August worldwide.

    I pity the Hard Drive file sizes and download times, but that's really pretty awesome that they're offering this.

      Yeah, the download time can definitely be a turn-off. The whole point of on-demand is to be able to watch/play something when you want to. It defeats the purpose if I have to spend a day downloading the game on to the HD first. But maybe they can break it down into parts or something along those lines.

    Sounds good i may have to buy one of these Xbox 360 console things. I must say they won me over long before Metal Gear Solid: Rising but that was a bonus. Here is to hoping there is something for Playstation 3 fans also.

    to combat preowned!? Are these people insane!?

    so once I bought a game which doesn't have multiplayer or any unlockable contents and I wish to sell it. I won't be able to. Because alot of trash Next Gen game doesn't even support playable contents, multiplayer or co-op.


    Yes what about the download bandwidth?? Harddrive space isn't important because the default capacity size is 60gb

    oh yeah finally but red 9 is right i do feel sorry for that and then i remembered i can do this on the ps3 already. but watever im just happy they did this.
