Ever thought that there was a possibility that GTA:IV would be delayed? Looks like it might happen. I don't think many hardcore GTA fans are gonna like this rumour. It might happen or might not. We just got to wait and see.

One of the highest-profile game industry analysts is making some particularly gloomy predictions. In a note sent out this morning, Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter said he thought "the company is likely to announce studio closures, lease terminations, and game cancellations during the conference call." He and his associates also "do not expect new games such as The BIGS, All-Pro Football, Fantastic Four, or The Darkness to be wildly profitable."

Pachter also set off a forum firestorm by wagering a guess about one of the year's biggest games. "We believe that it is possible that the company will choose to 'throw in the towel' on [its 2007 financial year] by shifting the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV by a few weeks, increasing the losses incurred this year and improving the company's prospects for FY:08." Take-Two's financial year ends on October 31, 2007.

Pachter gave another rationale for a GTA IV delay: namely, that moving it to early November would put more space between GTA IV and Halo 3, which is arriving September 25. "We believe that a two-week delay would provide a reasonable gap between the launch of Halo 3 and the launch of GTA IV, and would actually help sales of both games," he said.

Still another scenario in the Wedbush note would have the regular edition of GTA IV be pushed past Halloween, while the recently announced Collector's Edition of the game would go on sale October 16. That would "allow Take-Two to maximize revenues from the $89.99 Collector's Edition of the game...and to increase overall profitability." The extra $30 nets players a soundtrack CD, art book, duffel bag, keychain, and lockbox.

Great, so the economics of a money hungry company that had a crappy fiscal year make us wait even longer to get probably the most anticipated game of 2007. If the game is released as scheduled they will make more than enough to make up for lost profits from earlier in the year

However delaying it gives them more time to make it better or fix some bugs it may have. So im all for this honestly.

Every GTA gets delayed, it wouldn't be GTA without a delay somewhere along the lines, and anyone that was expecting this game to be immune to a delay was naive, all games get delayed nowadays.

I still think it's a disappointment if it does end up getting delayed. I've been anticipating this game for awhile.

Just as long as it doesn't get a HUGE delay. Some games are delayed for months. Hopefully that won't be the case here.

wtf LOL I was expecting to see an actual delay, i.e months later. Do you all really consider 2 weeks a delay? A 2 week delay is nothing. My heart stopped when I read the news title, but this ain't nothing at all to be disappointed about.

At least this delay gives them time to look over the game and see if any mistakes or bugs need to be fixed. You wouldn't want this game to be as glitchy as San Andreas would you?

If it's delayed it's delayed. Not much to do about it. Just gives them more time to put a bit more effort into it.

I'm fine with two weeks. Just as long as I'm playing it before the year is over, I'm happy.

I've waited too long for this game.
