OXCGN writer Alex Baldwin, a game dev student has come up with some great ways to use the new MS Project Natal when combined with other tecnhnologies currently available.
Check out the article and the video, which i=you really do have to watch top get the full grasp of the effect and possibilities of Natal
With the ‘Project Natal’ unveiled yesterday in the Microsoft Keynote, there’s now an incredibly accurate way to track movements in 3D space, so it’s only a matter of time until this virtualisation of creating a 3D image is in all future 360 games, no glasses or special screen needed.
Of course it’s hard to explain how the effect works without watching the wiimote hack video, but basically the image on the screen pans left, right up and down based on the player’s position in relation to the screen, and shifts the camera in and out from the player’s distance to the screen. The result: a 3D image even better than in 3D cinemas, flawless and causing absolutely no headaches. It doesn’t even require any more processing power.
The potential for this is limitless – in an FPS, you could literally lean across to see around what was on the edge of the screen. In racing games you would get a much better sense of depth perception for how far ahead corners and ccars are.

At least in the field of gaming anyways
If Microsoft can put this into some full 360 games, I can see almost every 360 owner buying a Natal camera.
