A whooper if I don't say so myself... Square Enix have announced Final Fantasy XIV (14) For the Playstation 3, and went further and stated that it will indeed be exclusive, and will be releasing in 2010.

Do note that the game will be a MMO, similar to Final Fantasy XI.

This helps explain why ff13 has been taking 4 years. Not a big fan of it being online tho

Negative...different games, different branch of people developing the game. FFXIII is just taking forever because it's gonna be badass

thats true but really come on if they keep taking so long to make one game think about the next one 5 years later and to say the least SE do not last the wait!

Its an MMO. Which sucks tbh. Better if its just normal

    McClubbin Jun 2, 09
    10 bucks says it's a (timed) exclusive.

Actually nevermind. If it's an MMO it can stay exclusive.

      Krunal Jun 2, 09
To be honest, with this being an MMO, I'm not sure I'm going to care if it is exclusive or not, since chances are I wont play it (unless it's like £1 a month ).

    Really wasn't expecting this.

I'll be sure to follow the game, but like the rest, I doubt I'll play it.

Not me, I'm going to be playing the living shit out of it! Sign me up!

So it's kind of like FFXI, eh?
Haha, I'm with Krunal, not a fan of P2P games, but a reasonable price may win me over.

    *Edit*
Actually, scratch that. If any MMO is going to entice me to try a P2P, it's The Old Republic.

True that @ TOR comment. This game better blow me out the freakin' water if it's gonna get me to quit playing The Old Republic when it comes out.

I don't usually get into MMO's, but I'll probably give this a try.

Of all the FF games to be exclusive, it had to be an MMO...

    Absolute Jun 2, 09
Wow...good luck to SE with trying to make this thing succeed when the Old Republic launches...looks like BioWare has really put a lot of effort into it.

Like any Final Fantasy fan actually gives a shit about this, the Final Fantasy online games are shite.

I'll be playing FFXIII next year, not FFXIV...stupid online crap.

Revoked? because i don't like the crappyness that is Final Fantasy Online?

It has no story, nothing interesting, just mindless griding with a few things from final fantasy few in so they can slap the name onto it.

          You mean FF12?

No story? How much of FFXI have you played? It has some pretty damn good main storylines with the expansions. I liked FFXI way more that WoW.

Revoked because obviously you aren't a Final Fantasy Fanatic as your name implies! Otherwise you would blindly purchase anything FF. LOL

Right, being a Final Fantasy Fanatic doesn't mean i blindly purchase EVERYTHING with the name Final Fantasy slapped on it, i do have boundries and crappy online titles were you have to pay £5-£10 a month just to play them are over the boundry.

I'll stick to paying a one off fee for my game and then enjoy it from there on.

So please Kik, *bleep*, you don't know what your on about.

LMAO well I can tell you got your panties in a twist. I apologize for your lack of a sense of humor. I forgot how much serious business the internet truly was.

BTW calling a game "crappy" when it hasn't been released is just a tad bit premature, and I'm going to LMAO if the title turns out to blow everyone's doors off and you end up signing up.

Keep your mind open, or else you're liable to shut incredible things out of your life. Calling a game shit before it even has a decent gameplay vid is about as close minded as it gets.

I got so excited for this, then they said it was an MMORPG.

    StarJet Jun 3, 09
Well, I don't have a PS3, and I don't really play MMOs, so I wouldn't care about this at all. Give me Birth By Sleep, 3rd Birthday and Agito, and I'll be happy.

    Miss Razz Jun 3, 09
If it's on PS3, will the online be free? Or will it be one of those games that need subscriptions?

If it's the former, I'll gladly play it.
If it's the latter, bugger off!

      Raziel_326 Jun 3, 09
Highly doubt it. FFXI was around $13 a month.

I must be one of the few excited for this! Not because of its exclusitivity, but because I want to see a MMORPG done right on consoles. Lets hope this isnt watered down.

I never played FF11 since I wasn't cool enough to have my PS2 hooked up to the internet. It's looks amazing, but I'll have to think about this one. Monthly payments don't sound like fun.

Actually, I played FFXI back in the day and I preferred it on console. This is one thing Square Enix seems to do well.

I'm personally looking forward to this game, though in the way of MMORPGs, The Old Republic has definitely caught my eye as well.

The old rebulic does look amazing, I've been signed up to their newsletter for a long time, and I can tell you the production value is huge.

How many of these are they going to make? Are they going to try and keep going past 20?

    Bin Sponge Jun 9, 09
I'm actually quite sad at this news being a 360'er. Lets face it, the only real gap in the market as far as online console gaming goes is the MMORPG (unless you discount FFXI and the homunculus that is PC and console gaming together).

I daren't go as far as to say it will top WoW on the pc, but lets face it, that would be an unfair comparison to begin with. If done right (as in no crossover with PC)then this has the potential to be a huge hit which will hopefully pave the way for some more MMO's on consoles.

      Slumpy monkey Jun 9, 09
If it has no crossover with the PC it will indefinitely fail. There just wont be enough players to keep it afloat without PC users. So they would have to make the game world altogether smaller so as not to dilute the population too much.

No fun playing an MMO when there is no body around and your friend is a 6hr walk away.

    Bin Sponge Jun 10, 09
I disagree with you Slumpy. I think that if they made it so that it was free to play after purchasing the game then it could do well without a PC crossover. Having said that, I can't see this happening and it will most likely be a PC/PS3 title.

      Slumpy monkey Jun 10, 09
Yeah but if they didn't charge monthly they wouldn't be able to provide constant updates which will make it a poor MMO overall, unless they made their money through lots of in game advertisement.. So yeah it would most likely be PC/PS3. Its the only way to do it atm.
