Want to use your ps3, PSP, and Wii browser but don't feel like waiting such a long time for a webpage to load. Just follow these simple instructions and you would be using the web browser a little more then before.

Browsing from your PS3 or PSP can be a convienient alternative to laptops and PCs depending on your media setup. One thing that isn't the best is the manner in which you input text on both of these devices (assuming you are not using a keyboard on your PS3 of course).

SPG recommends that you try OpenDNS to help speed up the task of inputing web addresses through the use of shortcuts. Not only will OpenDNS save you time on your PS3 or PSP, if set up correctly you can use the same short cuts on every machine in your LAN. This is a big benefit compared to having to input and bookmark all your favourite destinations on individual machines. There are many other benefits to OpenDNS but for the purposes of this article we'll focus on the shortcuts.

How to get started:

Visit OpenDNS and click Get Started

Choose the router option and your router model.

Log in to your router:

Often, the preferences are set in your web browser, via a URL with numbers (example: http://192.168.0.1). You may need a password.

Find the DNS server settings.

Scan for the letters DNS next to a field which allows two sets of numbers, each broken into four groups of one to three numbers. It might look like this:

3. Put in the OpenDNS server addresses as your DNS server settings and save/apply.

Please write down your current settings before you entering the OpenDNS addresses, just in case.

* 208.67.222.222

* 208.67.220.220

Restart your computer and router.

Visit: welcome.opendns.com to verify all is well.

Now the fun stuff:

Create an OpenDNS account as this will give you the ability to create shortcuts. Once logged in click the Networks section and add your current IP address. Now start creating your shortcuts!

Type these shortcuts into any browser on your LAN like your PS3 or PSP and you are there.

pssst...this works on a Wii too!

    I haven't gone online with my Wii yet, but this feature is making me seriously considering going online. I've heard about the slowness of the browser, so this shorcut is a really good idea.
