Though only the Xbox 360 release was mentioned in the press release, Sony's Jack Tretton confirms Metal Gear: Rising will indeed be coming to the PS3. PC release isn't confirmed yet, but does look likely.

Meanwhile, series creator Hideo Kojima lets us know he will not be directing or designing Rising, but rather focusing his efforts on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which he describes as the "Metal Gear Solid 5 inside me".

As for Rising, Kojima-san will only be serving as producer along side Kenichiro Imaizumi, telling Famitsu magazine:

"I'm not the director. I'm not doing game design either. Although, I do issue complaints (laughs). But, not too much."

Nonetheless, Metal Gear Solid Rising is still described by Kojima-san as the "next generation Metal Gear Solid 5."

Hopefully we'll hear more about the games during Konami's press conference later today.

Yes he is working on Rising, it even says in the source he is the producer.

i still think rising will be good even if hes not directing. and if the 360 version will be on 1 disc i will by that version. otherwise ill be picking up the ps3 version. as for peace walker, that should of been on ps3 and rising should of been a psp game!

Oh yes, I'm excited in a way, perhaps it will bring something different and welcome to the series...like a sensical plot.

I agree that Peace Walker (final piece of the Outer Heaven puzzle post Portable ops and prior to MG1) should be on the PS3. I know Sony must have woo'd Konami and Kojima to make that a PSP GO title so it can help launch the system. Peace Walker using the MGS4 engine + gameplay from Snake Eater would have been epic, but I am not complaining. Just great to see more Metal Gear and also great Solid Snake is being given the retirement he f'n earned.

I am optimistic about Rising, but also a tad worried. I am just glad "Rising" isn't staring a Cybernetic Sonny or another clone - the rumormill hype was terrifying for a moment.

My thoughts exactly. It's a shame when business has to get in the way. But I'd say it's half Kojima's fault -- he could've refused, it's not like they'd tell him to piss off, he's Kojima.

Good to see MGS is going multiplataform (although that already happened with MGS1 & 2 Substance).

lol, so in the span of however long it went from being 'MGS5 is Microsoft exclusive' to 'MGS:R isn't considered by them as MGS5 and Kojima's only producing'. lol.

Don't get me wrong, I just enjoy the irony.

I knew it was multiplat right from the get-go, but apparently other people aren't as observant. rofl.

Well, there's not observant and then there's indifferent.

Without Kojima directing, maybe it won't have hours upon hours of pointless cutscenes?

He'll probably get dragged into directing anyway. Oh sure he'll technically be Producer, but he'll still probably tell everyone what to do.

Though he doesn't seem to like Rising much, so maybe he really is hanging his hat so to speak.

Of course he likes it, he wouldn't be producing it if he didn't. He is a passionate developer. He just wants to focus on the PSP one because its more similar to the normal MGS but wants to test his foot in new ground too. That way if MGS:R sucks he is not totally to blame and so it will not hurt his reputation as much.

Well I don't know what's in Kojima's mind, but he has given a number of indicators he doesn't like Rising.

1)He has been quoted as nicknaming Metal Gear Solid: Rising as Metal Gear Solid: *bleep*.

2)He is working primarily on Peace Walker, which he describes "Metal Gear Solid 5 inside me." Why forgo a Next gen title for what is essentially a side project?

3)The game is multiplatform, not only on the 360 but the PC as well. Kojima has always tried to get the best out of the hardware, and going multiplatform will not help that, it doesn't fit in with his attitude at all.

          Just some thoughts.
