We all saw the Christian protest against Dante's Inferno at E3 last week. But was it a real protest? Or just a PR stunt?
Today EA confirmed that the entire protest was staged. It was all just a big publicity stunt.

The game publisher hired a group of nearly 20 people to stand outside the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on Wednesday and appear to protest the upcoming EA game "Dante's Inferno." EA spokeswoman Holly Rockwood says the stunt was arranged by a viral marketing agency hired by EA.

Is it just me, or if you pull a dumb stunt to trying get some attention for your game... its just crying of desperation lol.

It's probably just you. How is it desperation? It's just humorous viral marketing, which in fact does usually draw a larger audience. I thought it was an awesome idea.

The fact that I actually thought this was real is a testament to how far humanity has fallen.

HAHA I even have one of their brochures they handed out.

What was even more hilarious that people didn't really mention, was a thunderstorm rolled in mid afternoon that day and drove them out. When the first thunderclap roared, some dude on the sidewalk yelled "Even God want's you to shut the *bleep* up"

Well played EA, Well played. I definitely agree with Bale Fire, I figured it was those Westboro-type fundamentalist Christians.

I'm actually surprised that they hadn't made their way to E3.

Can't say I'm happy to hear that. Honestly it would have been better if it were real, mostly for the fact that people actually believed it was real and in turn took it as another mark against Christianity. I can understand humour, and I'm all for it . . . so long as it doesn't have negative results. Which, IMO, this one did. It'd be like if all those people who say all gamers are lazy bums, worthless to society and doing nothing for others, went out and staged a similar act, which in turn pretty much put another mark against gamers in the eyes of non-gamers.

Though I'm kinda relieved though to hear that all those horrible puns were not real. Whew!

Damn you, EA. I actually insulted Christians because of this. Sorry, Christians.
It was good of them to own up, though. It would've been a huge shame if they didn't, and were caught.

EA: "Let's sit back and see how long it takes these noobs to figure it out."

Since they scape-goated Christians though, I think most people would have just believed it to be real xD
