During E3, OXM spoke to Patrick Soderlund, Senior VP of EA Games, who said they have maxed out the Xbox 360, while the PS3 still has a lot of room left. He further goes on to talk about how Natal has great possibilities, but loves the games coming from Sony.

Patrick Soderlund, Senior VP of EA Games Europe, says that the 360 has been 'maxed out' but PlayStation3 hasn't been.

Soderlund's comments came during E3, as he spoke to OXM about Microsoft's E3 presence.

Yes i'm sure you've "Maxed out" the 360.

Even though no developer has even come close to it yet.

Is that a sack of Sony money i see in your hands?

Explains why you said it really.

Doesn't mean EA themselves weren't paid to make him say the maxed out thing =d

Why the hell would Sony pay someone to say that in the first place? LMAO That would be like saying that MS pays for thehiphopgamer site. LMAO

      That's an excellent strategy.

"Let's not pay for exclusives, let's pay for developers to mention random tidbits about the PS3 that will be forgotten by next week."

      Genius.

The only game that even came close to maxing out the 360 was Gears of War.

I did not see EA anywhere in that game

Unless Tiger Woods managed to use up all of the 360's power >.>

Well if anyones going to max out the ps3 it sure as hell aint gonna be EA. If MGS4 couldnt do it and Uncharted 2, GOW 3 and FF13 Versus(if it stays exclusive) cant do it I dont know if anyone will or can.

A lot of room left? As in blu-ray discs? If that's the case, then of course it isn't maxed out yet. As far as power is concerned, eh, I'd say MGS4 came closest as to maxing out the PS3.

Uncharted 2 has apparently come the closest with all of it's parrallel physics processing and other post processing effects. It is using all of the CELL and atleast 90% of all the power they can yield from it thus far. That said newer techniques and software will lower that percentage over time but right now to their knowledge they are using 90% of the PS3's power.

Pretty much every console gets considered 'maxed out' about half way through their life cycle. But developers figure out ways to tweak what the console can do to play games smoother and faster.

Think of it like this: Commercial airplanes 30 years ago flew faster than they do in today's world. Why? They hit a wall, the physics just didn't work right when you tried to fly a behemoth carrying tons of weight over a long distance. So what did they do? They stepped back, re-considered the whole speed idea, and built from there. Now we have airplanes that run FAR more efficient on less amount of fuel as well as being more stable.

Because we all know EA has constantly pushed the boundries in game design and utilised console graphics to the upmost possible..

    They have that track record.....right?

I find it interesting that the Wii are no longer mentioned in arguments like this anymore.

Typical of EA to make statements which can neither be proved nor solve anything but do spark fanboy wars.

(Not talking about the comments here, btw)
