The developer of Forza recently got caught bribing users to vote against Gran Turismo in an ongoing CNET poll. The comments from certain users are pretty surprising, as some claim that even though they like GT more, the free cars from Turn 10 in exchange for voting for Forza is just too tempting.

"We live in a very competitive world, and this is apparent in the video game industry where publishers and developers are constantly trying to get a leg up on their competition, whether it’s through clever marketing or brilliant feats of engineering. But what is NOT acceptable is when a publisher or developer uses bribes to gain an advantage. Che Chou, the community manager at Turn 10, has done exactly this, and we feel compelled to inform our readers about the dishonest tactics that the Forza Motorsport developer has chosen to carry out."

If this is indeed true then it has done nothing but tarnish the reputation of Turn 10. I wonder just how many companies have done this in the past in order to get an edge over their competitors?

Yep. Called it. PD may be overly anal with their, but at least they're not arrogant like these pricks.

I'd take an honest developer that takes a long time to make their game over one that criticizes another and then bribes people to vote for their game over that one any day..

Turn 10 why would you do such a stupid thing. Your game could be amazing but bribing the fans shows how little faith you have in your own creation. I voted Gran Turismo 5, i hope it wins out in the poll to show Turn 10 that not even bribes will work.

..wow, talk about being blown way out of proportion...

For starters, it was posted on the Forza forum and the Forza forum, and it was a car download, so it is only usable if you actually own the game and have Xbox Live. Not to mention its just a *bleep*ing poll.

Look, this is a VERY common tactic, every so often I get on Myspace and I see bands advertising a poll, saying if you vote for them you get a free song download, etc. Its just a small thing that playstationlifestyle are blowing up to get hits.

It being common doesn't make it okay.

We know PSLF have a poor reputation, but I don't think this is more for hits than anything we post here.

It is a shitty move. Luckily 'Unicorn' was explained in the article, because I would have voted for a Unicorn too.....but no it's just some virtual car. You almost had me Forza, with your slippery language!! LMFAO
