Trophies for the PSP. It sounds like a good idea, right? Well it isn't going to happen because Sony don't want pirates attempting to artificially inflate their trophy rankings. "If people can artificially inflate their rankings and amounts of Trophies, it kills the whole Trophy system," PSN director Eric Lempel said.

"You're not going to see Trophies on the PSP," explains PSN director Eric Lempel. Well, that's one good idea buggered.

Lempel explains that piracy is a huge part of the reason why Trophies aren't coming to PSP: "If people can artificially inflate their rankings and amounts of Trophies, it kills the whole Trophy system." According to Lempel, "keeping it secure, keeping it fair" is the order of the day, meaning that no Trophies will ever come to handhelds.

This is a disgrace; Trophies and the notion were the selling points of the PSP GO to me, now I am not sure on buying one. Sony could surely monitor Trophy cheaters as MS monitors Achievement cheaters...

Hacking the PSP is huge. Thousands of people do it, and it would be a large thing to monitor. I have hacked my PSP, and sold Pandora Batteries.
I don't play PSP anymore, but if a trophy hack was found, it would be huge amongst the community.

They're right not to have trophies, because the hackers have ruined it for themselves. Maybe the PSP Go could have trophies if that's "hack-proof"

I don't see why people have to hack the PSP anyway, people are complaining that their aren't enough good games coming out, (so was the case last year) but what's the point launching a brilliant game, if it's sales are crippled by pathetic hackers.

There are many reasons for hacking for a PSP besides the ability to download pirate PSP games(a large number of hacked PSP users don't do this).
Some of the potential benefits are,
      A usable Internet browser,
      Improved battery life,
      Improved media capabilities,
The ability to play almost all of your classic PS1 games,
The excellent Nintendo and Sega emulators,
      The free homebrew games,
The ability to rip your PSP games to the memory stick to greatly improve load time and battery life.

The emulators are the only reason I would hack a PSP, but I still would go and buy PSP games. That is if I owned a PSP

Sony seems to think a lot more people pirate PSP games then people actually do.

Bullshit man, if you ask me, "piracy" has become the new code word for when they don't wanna be 100% truthful about what's going on, they just blame it on the pirates. there's more to it than piracy mark my words man, something else going on there.
