It looks like EA may be taking the Activision route by having two developers tied to a single franchise. Though Slightly Mad Studios is currently working on Need for Speed: Shift, due to release in the fall, Criterion Games of Burnout fame is also creating an NFS title for EA.

"Word has gotten out that the next Need for Speed game will developed by Burnout: Paradise developer, Criterion Games. The surprise came from EA’s COO John Pleasants during a William Blair Growth Stock Conference presentation. This is what he had to say."

Didn't see this coming. I hope Criterion will be able to revive NFS without making it a Burnout clone.

I was ready to slam the decision, but you have a point -- maybe they'll give the series what it needs.

Sounds like a rip off tbh. It'll probably end up like Need For Speed:Undercover and I don't want to see that happen...

Undercover wasn't too bad I thought. Granted, I find Most Wanted to be more entertaining and fun, but Undercover was still fairly decent. Beats Prostreet and Carbon anyway.

Yeah but still Undercover in my opinion. I bought it. Played it for 3 days and returned it. I just didn't see what was so great about it. It was an epic fail in any state of mind.

I'd much rather have Unlockables than DLC. I don't feel like buying a game only to have to buy more of the game...
