At this year's E3, Tecmo's Kohei Shibata revealed why they made Quantum Theory an exclusive to Playstation 3: "Simply, it's the most powerful hardware'.

Gaming Union was able to catch up with Kohei Shibata, who is a producer at Team Tachyon, one of Tecmo's internal development studios. Team Tachyon are currently working on Quantum, and Shibata gave the following reasoning for Quantum being a PlayStation 3 exclusive:

This game seriously doesn't look good at all. I own a PS3 and it's one of those games that doesn't justify my purchase of it, like a lot of the exclusives have done.

Well they're obviously not properly utilising the machine. It's one of the worst looking jaggie-filled PS3 exclusive I've ever seen, not to mention the uninspired gameplay.

Why does PS3 seem to consistently get bad exclusives?

The PS3 has been subject to some of the finest exclusive titles. Only my opinion, but you obviously are skipping some of the finer games in their lineup.

You guys do know the footage that has been shown is of the game that is only 30% developed. The fact it looks as good as does right now is surprising to be honest. Sure it isn't the best but it's far from finished, in a year when it releases then we will see the true game.

Oh and Red 9 the PS3 has some of the highest rated exclusives on any platform and right now has the most consistant exclusives. If you ignore the likes of LAIR and HAZE the PS3 hasn't really put a foot wrong all of it's exclusives are high 8/high 9 scoring games one even got 10's accross the board, consistantly bad exclusives you should be a comedian.

Of course if you take away the two biggest examples of terrible exclusives the average score will go up.

I'm not going to take a side, but that is just awful logic. "If you ignore all the bad ones then every single one of the PS3's exclusives are great!" Dur. Same for everything else in the history of anything.

Thats the thing they are typically the only bad ones out of close to 100 exclusive games that are absolutely phenomenal. My logic was that other than a few games the rest are stellar experiences. The Playstation 3 isn't the only machine with a consistant release of high quality games though, the Xbox 360 also competes there. All i was saying is that Red 9 has been generally negative over many articles for no reason, if he opened his eyes he'd realise the Playstation 3 has had some of the best games of this generation released exclusively on it.

Well, the gameplay so far looks average, but since the game is supposedly only 30% done according to the devs, I'm hoping for a solid Gears-like shooter. (Gears is one 360 exclusive I'd be glad to play on the PS3, along with Splinter Cell)

If it is 30 % complete and they're planning for a release in 2009, they'll be shipping an incomplete game that everyone will be disappointed in, so they'll lose no matter what.

The game is planned for release in 2010, what're you talking about?

The last I had heard from this game was that it was to be released in 2009 in Japan. Maybe it has changed but I'm just going from my last knowledge of the game.
