For anybody wondering what is going to happen to their EGM subscription now that the magazine has folded, it looks like they won't be getting a refund. Instead, they will recieve Maxim magazine as a replacement.

While EGM folded as a print publication earlier this year, interest in the magazine and 12 to 24-month long subscriptions didn't. Rather than issue a refund, subscribers appear to be getting a replacement in Maxim. The 14-year-old men's mag does cover video games in addition to breasts, so readers won't be at a total loss. But given Maxim's preference of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand to Killzone 2, we're not sure how well-served in reviews they'll be.

That isn't such a bad deal. At least now if the kiddies' parents ask them where they got their stash from they'll have a legitimate excuse. xD

Rofl! Oh my god...Gothic Girl, thanks for posting this. This very Maxim came in the mail for me today, and I was quite confused.

I hope EGM returns with my suscription later this year...I really didn't ask for Maxim, I would have gone with something, well better.

god forbid one have a preference that contradicts the popular opinion.

That would be a good point if Blood on the Sand wasn't complete and utter trash

        but it wasn't trash

It was actually a good fun game, but since it has 50 cent printed on it automatically people avoid it.

        Did you play the game?

I'm glad you said that dwg, the game was actually a lot of fun. It did everything right without really taking a chance at some new type of gameplay, it was a great rental.

Yes I did, my young brother is a big 50 cent fan and bought it as soon as he could afford it. Whilst the gameplay was just about passable everything else was trash. It's not about avoiding it because 50 cent was on it (don't get me wrong, I had no intention of buying it myself (and if I never played it I wouldn't talk smack about it)) it's about 90% of the game being laughable.

The game being so laughable is what made it fun. I'm sure the game was being taken seriously.[edit] wasn't*

I respectfully disagree. 50 Cent would fire a shotgun between his own legs before being able to laugh at himself.

Therefore the laughability can't have been on purpose so it isn't fun, it's just sad.

          Urban dictionary? How eloquent

Considering you were having a hissy fit over someone elses opinion I suggest reading that link yourself, and then sitting alone in a corner for a while and figuring out why you're so angry

So I should be looking out for a Maxim, eh? I really don't like dealing with that company, but whatever.

But Ziff Davis still owns the subscriptions. EGM is being brought back, but by Steve Harris in a new company: EGM Media, LLC.

He only has assets and publication rights.

For the record, I can verify this. I got that issue of Maxim in the mail yesterday.

    I was pleasantly surprised.

        Could be a girl.
        Could be married.
        Could be past puberty.
        Could be not interested.
        Could be appalled . . .
Could be more interested in getting what he wanted and paid for instead of something else...

        Just some thoughts...

Lol! Hmm. . . Well what if he's being held in a national prison and they don't allow Maxim? They allowed EGM because . . . well he paid them off or something. But he now ran out of money since he paid the subscription and the guards, and well . . . now he's out of luck? Poor poor Darknet. But what are you in a National Prison for?!

          Hideo1 Jun 17, 09
Simple really; he lets the guard keep it in exchange for a pack of smokes, which he will then use as currency to buy an illegally smuggled in copy of black market EGM.

          And the world keeps turning!

Lol, I would be happy if that happened. But its a bit stupid on there part not even notifying the consumer that they will be receiving another magazine that they didn't order.

I just received the second issue(first came yesterday), and it had a small sticker on the front explaining why the magazine was coming.

Same, got another issue, that sure was quick...I have to say, I actually browsed through this one, and compared to the first we got (as shown in the pic above), this was light years ahead of it, with a Cho interview, Jackman interview, and a spread with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Can't go wrong with it...still, the chances of me giving many of their issues to come a chance are slim to none.

Believe me, I'm still trying to figure out WTF is going on. I HAVEN'T received any Maxim or notice from anyone explaining what is going on with my sub. I paid for it in December and the next thing I know I get 2 mags and nothing else after. If I don't get a mag this week I guess I will have to call them yet AGAIN to try and figure out where my shit is LOL
