If (for some bizarre reason) you were expecting Super Mario Galaxy 2 to have a deep plot, prepare to be disappointed. Miyamoto has told wired.com that "I’d like to go with as little story as possible".
But really, who needs a Mario game to have anything more complex than: Rescue the princess?
Super Mario Galaxy 2 won’t have as deep a storyline as its predecessor, says Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto.
Super Mario Galaxy, the 2007 game that marked the iconic mascot character’s first adventure on Wii, was notable for the fact that its narrative was much deeper than the series’ usual paper-thin, save-the-princess plot. But Miyamoto, in an interview with Wired.com at E3 2009, says he’s not a fan of putting story into Mario titles, and therefore he’s keeping the plot of Galaxy 2 to a bare minimum.
“I’d like to go with as little story as possible,” he said. “I’ve always felt that the Mario games themselves aren’t particularly suited to having a very heavy story.”
The Legend of Zelda games, he feels, should have deep storylines — but not Mario.

A simple "Save the princess" is fine.
Like I said, the amount in Galaxy is fine, but trimming it is not going to hurt anything.
The second one would be slightly amusing, but I have no doubt in my mind I'd prefer the first.
Seriously though, I would love the game if Mario and all his friends were mute as long as they didn't ruin the gameplay.
Bowser is both the father and mother
Could be very true
OR when Bowser kidnaps peach, behind the scenes of mario trying to get her back...
RAPE
and Peach isnt the mother of them. she wears a heavy duty chastity belt that even Super Mario cant remove.
Answer: no. Mario stories are about as deep as a 16 year old blonde girl's philosophy on Ethics.
Doesn't even make much of a fantasy book.
But, generally, a mario game doesn't need a story. It's neer been an in-depth storyline game and I doubt putting it down further is going to hurt anything. Maro game are just about jumping on differently shaped platforms, avoiding traps and collecting coins. And, we play it and love it anyway, despite the simplicity. I don't see a problem.
how captivating. really, i almost cried when i finally found her. such a powerful moment. when all the toads pop out it's like the end of braveheart; mario's convictions to save the princess were just too strong for the fire pits, and red turtles to break his spirit. the final battle between mario and bowser was so tense - a plumber scorned by his lost love(interest), and the wrathful tyrant - making a statement to all radical mercinaries (and maintenance professionals) that his power, and authority was not to be questioned. no man would back down - and when bowser threw the first axe, and that powerful, sweeping FM synthesis kicks in, it's like you're right there with mario, fighting for the freedom of his love/employer.
with all of the axes of the mushroom kingdom hurling at mario at about 47 pixels per second, it looked as if all was lost, and my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. but the moment that bridge fell, the entire population of my living room couch (me, and my cat, flapjack, that is) were brought to tears. a day i will never forget.
PLEASE DONT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME NINTENDO.
plannets destroyed: 50
plannets lost: 10
You wouldn't have to rebuild your planet if it geds destroyed. Also there would be a limit ti the amount obstacles used.(depends on size of planet) and only certain obstacles can be used. and no more thAn three of the same obstacles.
