Electronic Theatre reports on the Department of Culture, Media and Sport’s decision to adopt the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) as the sole age ratings system for videogames in the UK.

The PEGI ratings system supports the guidelines set out by Professor Byron in her review last year, designed to safeguard children both on- and offline. Regular visitors to Electronic Theatre may know of the deliberation between British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) and PEGI ratings systems that has reportedly lead to confusion amongst retailers and consumers. Having a clearly defined system will undoubtedly help both parties, and Electronic Theatre agrees that it is in fact PEGI that appear better suited for the job.

Doesn't really make too much of a difference except for the fact that a 15 rating will now be replaced by a 16+ rating.

Sucks for 15 year olds I suppose...

...Well, for all of 5 seconds until they ask their parents to buy the game for them.

EDIT: oo wait. They're making new symbols. nvm.

I all I care about is that they don't ban games like God of war and Heavy rain, couldn't care less if 15 year olds can't get their games
