In news I could have never predicted would be happening when I woke up this morning, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer confirmed in Chicago that there will be new Xbox in 2010, hit up the quote to read all we know at the moment. Props to 1UP for posting a pretty way out there rumor that is now ending up to be reality.

The new device will be equipped with technology that is “really, really, close” to an actuality. The console, which was described as having a “natural interface,” will have a built in camera with the ability to recognize movement and voice.

    Too soon?
Hope it doesn't have the troubles the 360 did..I may get one if so.

Speculation would be that all 360 games would still run on the 360, but newer games with this system in mind would be able to implement some higher tech (Natal + whatever else).

The only thing I think we call all be sure about, is a huge ass hard drive. With the "Games on Demand" service coming (this August, right?), even a 120gb is going to start looking small.

I pray they got the red ring thing figured out now.

I would hope all 360 games would still run on the 360...

The technology they're referring to sounds like it is Natal. Errr..the IGN story has this response from Microsoft:

        quote
"As the Xbox team stated at E3 two weeks ago, we are not even halfway through the current console generation lifecycle and believe Xbox 360 will be the entertainment center in the home for long into the next decade. Project Natal will be an important part of this platform, but we have not confirmed a launch date at this time."
I think I confused myself. Err. Yes, a new model with Natal integrated seems only logical.

Yeah, seeming to be just another SKU. I really wonder though if Natal would require more RAM or something else that would only be found in the 360 it comes bundled with (as even in the E3 demo's, there seemed to be lag)

And in other SKU news, a new Xbox 360 Arcade is coming too http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/18/microsoft-confirms-new-xbox-360-arcade-systems-are-bumped-to-512/ (replacing the current one).

How would they intergrate Natal into the 'new' Xbox? As far as i know the software will probably be a download/on disk affair that'll work with any xbox, i don't see why making a whole new variation on SKU just for the software would be logical, also, I certainly wouldn't want the camera stuck in/to the box, since i have it in a bad camera location

Why would they wait until AFTER E3 for this? Sounds like something that should be the big news..

I figured the GameStop killer known as Games on Demand would have been bigger news if it was part of their E3 conference as well.. but...Microsoft basically let the games speak for themselves for the most part (sans Natal.. but even with Natal they went straight into gameplay with it).

Onvacation: Not as something mandatory, mostly just for folks like me who don't have a 360, or an old model...or those who suddenly have a broken one.

Its not ending up to be reality, its pretty darn obvious that its not a new console. 1up is just spewing bull crap, I read their article. It was a few paragraph's long and it said how he "partially confirmed" their "rumour", when he was just talking about Natal.

I hope this is simply a new retail box with Project Natal bundled in as an accessory.

Bigger hard-drive with Natal. Maybe a new disk format?

I believe it'll keep the disc format.

In fact I just think that this might be the new "elite"

Add a new color, throw Natal in, give us a newer bigger hardrive and some other stuff.

In essence it is a "new console" but it's still Xbox 360.
