With alot of the Sony exclusive games that made the Playstation the powerhouse it was last generation, opening up its doors to more possibilities by going multiplatform, the Dark Cloud series seemed like one game that would be a mainstay on the Playstation. With a recent turn of events, that might change.

Sony and Level 5 have drafted an agreement that locks in Sony as the publisher of the game with a stipulation of White Knight Chronicles selling successfully in the west. This could be the reason why WKC was pushed back, so the game didn't have to compete with the holiday heavyweights.

Except, you know, Sony owns the Dark Cloud IP.

They only own the rights Dark Cloud, this is a spiritual successor, aka its Dark cloud but not bound to the IP. Much like NG:Sigma, and FEAR 2. The new one will be published by Sony dependant on how well WKC sells in the west. If not, it will go to another Publisher like Ea or Ubi.

But I doubt it, WKC seems to have gotten some good hype.

"Lose another exclusive"? Anti PS3 journalism; PS3 has plenty of exclusives now and coming.

its not anti ps3 journalism, its a statement. PS3 has lost exclusives before and they might lose this one as well

I'm just saying that some journalists still paint Sony as being just as desperate for exclusives as pornstars are for bukkake.

Besides, there's no way WKC WON'T sell well. It already broke sales records in Japan, there's no reason it can't here. Especially with the demand for RPGs.

not that desperate but they have made numerous mistakes of keeping their big franchises exclusive lately.

How could it be a mistake to keep their big franchises exclusive? And look at it this way: even if a previously exclusive franchise no longer remains so, it'll likely just be multiplatform, which means while it'll still be on 360, it's not exclusive to 360. It'd still be on PS3.

sorry i meant they were losing several franchises, such as FF13, and now possibly MGS4 will come out on 360 too. there have been others too.

Quadruple fail on that one, my friend. FF13, yes, seeing as it already happened. MGS4? Keep up with the news, buddy.

Wow so if WKC doesn't sell well, consider Dark Cloud 3 a multiplatform release.

Would be another kick to the nuts for Sony tbh as a RPG like Dark Cloud could rake in quite alot of sales.

How many Level 5 RPG's did NOT sell? IMO, it's not so much as Sony is losing an exclusive as it is GAINING one if this is the case.

I've seen some images and videos from Dark Cloud and, for some reason, it kind of reminded me of Zelda.

You're not really wrong in thinking that. The battle system in the game is very Zelda-esque.

Even Level 5's first game ever, the original Dark Cloud sold well, I don't see why WKC, which has been hyped alot, wouldn't sell. Rogue Galaxy sold well, the Porfessor Layton games sold well, hell WKC sold well in Japan on its own, I seriously don't see how this game will not sell well.

Thought there was already a Dark Cloud 3. It was either Dark Chronicle or another one, I'm sure of it.
