According to Major Nelson, the next dashboard update is set to improve on the NXE, which he jokingly dubbed NXE 2.0. The update promises a much faster dashboard with new features. The features included will be things like the Avatar Marketplace, the Games On Demand service, Twitter, and Facebook that Microsoft announced during E3. The update will be out sometime this year as they're trying to gear up for the holiday season.
He also provided the reasons behind the LIVE downtime last week. While it might not appear that they've done much, he states that the changes will certainly be visible once the new dashboard update is released.
Listen to Major Nelson's podcast for more information. He talks about this from the 55-59th minutes.
