May: Wii now outselling PS3 in Japan 5 to 1

You heard it right. The Nintendo Wii is outselling Sony's PS3 in Japan 5 to 1 in May. That's an even bigger lead than April. Is it because Nintendo has a virtual console that allows you to buy your favorite Nintendo games from the past? Or is it because the Wii is more then half as a cheap as the PS3? Who knows? Read the article to find out.

April's figures showed the Wii was outselling the PlayStation 3 4-to-1 in Japan, and last month the gap widened even further, with the cheaper Nintendo console now 5-to-1 ahead, reports Bloomberg.

    thats only happening b/c sony was TOO ambituous in trying to push the gaming world and went too far so they are outside the wallets of a lot of their former customers. I am a hardcore sony fan and won't buy nething else and i still do not have a PS3... The price is just too high compared to the Wii or 360.

    Don't forget, Japan is also into small and/or light things, a major reason why 360 is doing so shitty Japan, believe it or not. Anyways, this is quite old news, Wii has always been selling the highest in Japan. I honestly don't see any point in raving over sell statistics.

    "Japs" like Sony just as much as Nintendo, especially PS2. Wii and DS just appeal to the lifestyles of Japanese people.

    First off guys let me educated you guys.
    1. ps3 doesnt have some good games.
    2. price of system seems to be contributing
    3. wii is cheap, a fad and most of all lucky.

    Also the wii isnt even getting competition cause the big BIG titles hasnt came out yet. Once halo and the other games for sony and MS goes into play They will be the ones PWNing nintendo.

      The only half good point is price. Nintendo are winning right now, not because of luck but because people like it. If you have a hard time excepting then either be quite until you either can accept or you have something factual to say that is hopefully thought through, or perhaps isn't attacking a console.

      Thw Wii has big titles coming out as well like Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Galaxy. Those games will compete with Halo and will keep the Wii towards the top. Plus we don't know what other games Nintendo has in store for the future, so for you to say that they will get pwned is just plain stupid.

    Finalblade every time I see one of your posts it's always one of your fanboyish statements. Anything can happen, and as you and your fanboy friends predict that the wii's sales will fall others will predict that they will rise. As time goes on it is more than likely that nintendo will improve the games that are realesed for the wii and find new uses for the wiimote. I'm not saying that the other consoles are going to fail but don't go saying that the wii will fail unless you have valid proof because graphics, price, and the rumor that it's a fad is not good enough because fads can last for a long time.

    I applaud Nintendo for producing a very productive, entertaining, and addictive game system, known as the Wii. Who really cares about the "Wii-itis", since the PS2's, XBOX's, and all of the others like them have the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, where your thumbs get extremyly sore. Well, without the Wii, Nintendo would only have the DS and the GameCube to go off of, and that would be very difficult to produce cash flow from those two.
