If you're one of those people who've been rigorously collecting up Club Nintendo points since its inception back in December, you might want to read up on this announcement. Your status on Club Nintendo (Gold/Platinum) will be reset at the end of the month as the "Club Nintendo year" is about to come to an end. If you reach the end of the month with a Gold or Platinum status, you will be entitled to a special gift depending on your status. What those are have not been determined yet.

For years, jealousy reigned. Japanese fans got all the cool extras, and European players could cash in for exclusive goodies too. For the hardcore American Nintendo fan, being left out in the cold was almost too much to bear.

But this past December, finally, Club Nintendo came to the States. At last, we could take part -- joining the Club, registering the special codes included with first-party products and earning Club Nintendo Coins, redeemable for all kinds of members-only swag.

It's a shame that all your hard work will be erased next week.

If you didn't read the fine print when you signed up for your American Club Nintendo account, it's time to pay attention now -- because the "Club Nintendo year" is about to come to an end. You only have until June 30, eight days from now, to redeem product codes and take post-play surveys on the Club Nintendo site to earn Coins and reach the thresholds necessary for achieving Gold or Platinum member status.

Your coins will remain, its just your elite status that resets. Your coins are good for up to two full years after you get them.
