Gamestop usually tries to get pre-order bonuses for gamers. Sometimes they are worth it, other times no they are not. Ubisoft has announced its pre-order bonuses only available at gamestop. You will receive a voucher code to download a Italian palace for you to explore.

The Palazzo Medici is a Renaissance palace located in Florence, Italy. It's famous. It's also one of Ezio's playgrounds in Assassin's Creed 2, provided you pre-order either the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of the game.

I'm really starting to despise these stupid pre-order bonuses. I know it's only a $5 purchase for a preorder, but why should I pay $5 on top of the game itself for something we should be getting regardless?

In this case I agree. As LPF said, sometimes it's not worth it.

You don't...the $5 pre-order is deducted from the price when you pick up the actual game..

Point is, you shouldn't have to preorder a game just to get something that should already be in it without a preorder. If you live in a small town where preorders don't matter, having to do so just seems really stupid and redundant.

Ooh yes, forgot about the deduction -- I normally pre-order online.
Red 9 has a point I guess, but..publishers need some way of encouraging pre-orders so they can have early numbers. Got any suggestions?

Its really not a huge deal tbh...if you want a game, just put 5 dollars down beforehand...and you get a bonus...don't make a mountain out of a mole hill, half the time it gets released on the console's respective online store eventually.

I like how games as of recent have been putting things inside the first shipped game boxes. Like Gears of War 2 had the flashback maps or inFamous having the beta codes. Why don't they just put the pre-order incentives in the box for day one ships or whatever, or give free DLC/beta codes.

the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of the game.
How much do you guys want to bet that months after this game is released, Ubisoft releases this on the PSN and XBL Marketplace ?

It's not like bonus content or anything. I think this palace for Ezio to "explore" will be much like Lara's Mansion in any of the Tomb Raider games. I think that's a good way to put it.

Or an easy way to unlock it without having to achieve in through the game.

Yes, but months after the game is released you'll have to pay for it on PSN or Marketplace. As if you pre-order it, you get it for free when the game is released on day one.

        Welcome to capitalism.

Release it as a special deal, then when people get to use it and go online to brag about how awesome it is on the Internet, just when until the demand gets high enough and you can announce for as much as you can get away with.

So if you plan on getting the game anyways, why not pre-order it and save the $10? People seem to have a problem with pre-ordering when it's not costing them anything to do so, but would spend the $5-10 US later on. It just doesn't make sense to me. Personally I pre-order because it's a great way to just put money into a game when I can afford it, so when it's released it's already paid off and I don't need to worry about the funds that day.

I've never quite understood the purpose behind pre-orders and I worked at a Gamestop. No other digital medium does this. When's the last time you pre-ordered a movie or cd? The entire point to a video game store is to have said video games. Purposefully shorting your supply for guaranteed sells just hurts you in the long run. If they would stop having little boutique stores scattered all over a town and make a large centralized location that could hold a large amount of games and actively do something with the multiple copies of used games that never sell, they wouldn't have the problem of limited space.

I have to disagree there, Big Willie. Movies and CDs are often available for pre-order, and here in the UK, retailers often throw in bonuses for doing so. Just over the past year I pre-ordered both Chinese Democracy (the new Guns N' Roses album) and The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray - I didn't really need to either time, but it was worthwhile for the extra peace of mind that came with knowing I was guaranteed a copy on release day.

I get sick of the bonuses, because I'm weak...

But seeing as I CBA to finish the first one, this second one is getting a pass....I'm guessing they know people are kinda 'meh' about the sequel, so they're putting up a pretty good bonus to entice people....
