Most people have probably never heard of the Toshinden series or don't remember it well. The 4 fighting games were primarily featured on the original Playstation and some of the earlier games were ported to the PC, Sega Saturn, and the Gameboy. The series has been pretty much dead for years with Toshinden 4 last seeing a re-release back in 2003. However, Tomy has shed some light on the upcoming game for the Wii. Apart from character art, which certainly looks interesting, and some details on the combo system, they've announced that Dream Factory is developing the project. Other than this, not much is known about the game or when it's being released.

Late last year Tomy announced a new Toshinden game for Wii. Screenshots were shown, but we haven’t seen or heard about the game since.

Speaking with Tomy USA I learned Toshinden is being planned as a mixed media project similar to .hack. Dream Factory, the developers of Ehrgeiz and Tobal No. 1, are working on the game. A few new pieces of concept art appeared on the Toshinden blog, but the game still doesn’t have a release date.

I asked if Tomy USA plans on publishing Toshinden here. A representative said, “we hope to be able to launch it.”

New characters and style, I see. Eh, I want Kayin and his Excalibur. [/nostalgia]

Toshinden was one of my favorite fighters back then. Can't count how many battles I had in BAT3.

Awesome, awesome news. I hope there's a decent amount of returning characters, and that it hits the UK.
