Back in February, XSEED Games localized Game Center CX, a game based on the Japanese television show of the same name, here in the US as Retro Game Challenge for the Nintendo DS. The game is one of the better games to have been released this year, even being the highlight of its release month. However, there is the infinitely-better sequel Game Center CX 2, which has not been announced for localization by XSEED. Why is that? Not enough of you so-called hardcore gamers bought Retro Game Challenge, so XSEED has decided not to pursue the game as of right now.
Instead of the rest of us who will whine on message boards all day to no avail, Benjamin White has decided to take on the charge. For every person who buys a US copy of Retro Game Challenge, he will send you a pinback button adorned with the game's robot ninja, Haggle Man, from the Robot Ninja Haggleman series in RGC. There's two types you can pick; Haggleman's regular look or his busted look when he has taken damage. Just email Mr. White here with your receipt (that's dated after June 24th), and he'll send you a button at no charge of shipping or materials, with your pick of design.
Bless his soul, for he is a lover of good games and doing his part to get it localized.
Listen up: I need your help. We need your help. You haven’t bough a copy of Retro Game Challenge yet and this is a big problem. The “we” I mentioned a bit ago is everyone who likes playing good games, ever.
See, it’s like this: There’s a sequel to Retro Game Challenge that has already been released in Japan. It’s called Game Center CX over yonder. As good as Retro Game Challenge is, Game Center CX 2 is even better. Like, a million times better.
But, RGC developer XSEED sees no point to localize Game Center CX 2 until it sells a bunch more copies. I really, really, really want to play this game. You do too, you just don’t know any better yet.
I will not go down without a fight. Though the task may be daunting—unwinnable even—I must do my part. Here is what I offer: for every copy of Retro Game Challenge bought between the publishing of this interview which is to say June 24, 2009 and the release of Game Center CX 2 or Retro Game Challenge 2 I will make a handcrafted Robot Ninja Haggle Man button. Absolutely free of charge.
