Well in short, headshots will not blow off peoples heads, nor will they instantly kill the enemies. The important part (that we have all been waiting for) is that its wii-mote functionality offers great 1st person targeting, but the blood and gore is drastically reduced.

Those of you looking forward in spewing endless zombie gore using a Wii-mote may be in for a disappointment. Capcom introduced the wonderful crimson world of Resident Evil 4 to the Nintendo Wii on May 31 in Japan.

Importers can snag the title for 3,900 yen (that’s about $32 bucks.) But for some reason, Capcom has surprisingly decided to censor a hefty amount gore and blood from the game. Yeah, that Wii-mote massacre you were planning sounds more like a game of Warioware now.

Ignore the bold red sticker on the box that says, “THIS GAME CONTAINS SCENES OF GRAPHIC VIOLENCE.” TheFeed remembers our first experience of RE4 on the Gamecube-the guilty grin we had when we shot off a zombie’s limb was priceless. But in the Wii-version, limbs can no longer be shot off. Headshots no longer kill enemies. Yeah that’s right, shooting someone in the head DOES NOT kill them. Take that for censorship.

For those of you who have been living under a rock or meditating in a monastery for the past 2 years, Resident Evil 4 has been hailed by both critics and players as one of the best (if not, the best) survival horror games since its 2005 debut on the Gamecube. It detracts from the archetypical Resident Evil controls and features a new aiming system and much more. A PS2 version was also released months after its debut with additional features.

The Wii version is similar to the PS2, content wise. However, the Wii-version will allow players to have a more precise aim by using the Wii-mote. Exciting, but a Resident Evil game cannot be justified without its share of blood-oops, we meant “red stuff.” Damn censorship.

I am interested to know how far into the game this article is. Last time a played RE4, which was a few weeks ago, not every headshot kills a zombie in a spray of gore. With most of the guns you have in early parts of the game, it takes a few good shots to blow a head off.

As soon as you get the shotgun in the village you can pretty much start blowing heads off.

Just so you guys know, this article is false. The US version of RE4 for the Wii will be exactly the same as the PS2/GCN version. There will be no censorship at all.

The reason why this article says there will be censorship is because the original Japanese version of RE4 for the GCN was censored, and Capcom is also censoring the Japanese Wii version. Every other version will contain all the blood and gore.

That's the kind of post that deserves all the thumbs it can get. I'm glad you were around to let us know because I about blew a gasket when I read this article (and before I read your link). I love my delicious blowing off of heads. ^^

      Thanks again.

Ah thanks for the heads up twilightprince, I would have been truly angry if they censored the US/UK Resident Evil 4 Wii. In the Japanese version, what was the point of the red-eyed Ganados if you couldn't even blow their heads off? (Blowing their heads off makes the parasite appear there)

The article can't be taken seriously. Not only does Nintendo itself disprove this, but it also calls Resident Evil 4 a survival-horror game.

    A thumbs up for Twilight.

That really had me going for a second. I really couldn't think why they would eliminate the gore from a Resident Evil game. It's Resident Evil! I doubt they want to try and appeal to children on the Wii.

I'm glad to hear there will be no censorship in the USA version of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. It would totally suck if we couldn't do headshots to kill people or blast off their limbs. Thanks for the heads up twilightprince.
