A guy made a video on YouTube doing what I remember GameTrailers did quite a while ago, explaining the Zelda timeline. This guy did a complete job imo, very well done, and should be watched. However, he has received a response from Nintendo about this timeline saying.. there is no timeline. I've included the original video and the response in the quote.

That's a nice way to REALLY crap on a series' entire story.

    er, what an ass.

they pretty much summed it up with the line about "this is one of the many stories" or whatever. the franchise is called 'legend of zelda'. legend=myth=story. apparently the reasoning by nintendo is that they're all just different stories.. and that makes sense.

apparently everything has to interconnect and fit into some grand scheme to this guy. it's not so hard to believe that nintendo doesn't give a shit about making all of their games chain together.

This is like, the 2nd time I've ever totally agreed with. The Zelda time line in the article's picture is the only true one. (Plus the guy who made the video was rather cocky saying "This is the correct version", and the guitar covers were annoying...)

And no ocarinahero10 (aka "A guy"), Nintendo's customer support did not watch you're video, because they obviously don't have the time to go through everyone's Legend of Zelda timeline / Peach is Mario's wife theories.

Plus, it's impossible to create a flawless time line if you consider every little detial.

It pretty much makes it "The Twilight Zone" except each episode has the same overall plot...with the exception of a few episodes here and there.

I haven't seen a timeline I've agreed with in a long time (I have my own one)... Now Nintendo has to go ahead and cut the timeline altogether.

Although it's probably for the best. Now that they don't have any chonology they can start making Zeldas in any way they want.

PS. Those videos, along with every other video on Youtube about the timeline, suck hard.

I never, ever cared if there was or wasn't a timeline. To me these games are just awesome as they are. Who needs a timeline, when all games are about pretty much the same thing over and over again, only they manage to make them really fun to play anyway? I mean, seriously.

Okay. Maybe it's because I like Zelda but am not some sort of avid fan, but . . . honestly does there HAVE to be a timeline or the Zelda franchise will die? Come on, seriously? Give me a break, some people might take this thing way too seriously.

Now if they were actual sequels then yeah put a timeline, but those aren't sequels, they're games in themselves! Each game supporting it's own weight. Is that too hard to understand?

I recently saw X-men: Evolution on TV. Then I started remembering growing up and thought, "It's amazing how they change things and make stories. They have x-men as adults in the comics and in the cartoon, then they have one with them being teenagers, then they have another one more recently with Wolverine as the leader (Not bad of a show actually, I think they did a decent job with it)" But with that . . . it would be messed up if I tried to create a timeline for all these shows and comics and everything. THEN, I'd border on having lost my mind if I tend to argue with the CREATORS of x-men themselves, and get all upset because **gasp!** these shows and comics are NOT MEANT to be part of a timeline, but rather just stories of their own!! WOAH!!! Go figure, huh?

What the hell? Where did he get the idea that Nintendo was planning on 'abandoning' Zelda simply because there isn't a timeline? How will adding a timeline, that will then have to accounted for in all future games, save Zelda?

I think that nintendo simply didn't want to say that he was right about the timeline,so they just said that there was no actual timeline.

    'Cause seriously,his timeline makes sense!

I honestly think the creators just don't want to constrain themselves, opening up the possibility of many more Zelda games in the future.

I have no problem with that. Sometimes, leaving things open ended is the best way to avoid fan drama. Still, nice vids -- I chuckled at the second one.

Wow, that first video is the best timeline theory I've ever heard. I've never realized how the spirit that teaches you the moves in TP could be the Link from MM. And how Malon could be TP Link's mom, explaining why Link begins the game on a farm and how he has an adult Epona.

While I always find pissing with obsessive fanboys hilarious, I used to be a major timeline nerd and I'm fairly sure that video has a few errors.

But no this is really funny.

This is a very interesting theory >>. I like it! The time line does make some sense though! The guy had a lot of time on his hand.

His timeline makes sense though the legend of zelda is just one of those games that doesn't make sense in a timeline. Like the final fantasy's and KH's. Can't be put into a timeline because a character (no spoilers) dies in ffvii and is alive in KH 1 and 2. Some games just aren't meant to be in a timeline. And knowing nintendo, the next legend of zelda game is gonna throw this theory right out the window.
