If you thought Super Mario Galaxy was a bit on the easy side, this news might please you. According to Miyamoto, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be geared towards "veteran and more experienced gamers" moreso than the first game was.

Discuss in the Super Mario Galaxy 2 forum

(Miyamoto) stated that while they still wanted the game to be accessible to new gamers, it's main target audience was hardcore gamers and those who have played through the first game (and become better players).

'I do believe that there is a lot here to appeal to the more veteran and more experienced gamers, and I think it’s a title that they will obviously enjoy, but I really took it into consideration and tried to do our best to create a game that’s accessible to new gamers as well. And, you know, we also built it with consideration that we believe that people who played through the first Mario Galaxy have become better players.'

Please Miyamoto please. I'll hold my breath until I play it.

But it better be harder, SMG was way to easy and didn't offer that "mario Challange" old games use to have.

So will this game be in the same spirit as Lost Levels (or 2 JPN) was to the original Super Mario Bros.?

Even Super Mario Bros. 3 (world 6-8 were a good challenge) or Super Mario World (later stages in that game were admittedly tough, as well as the special stages) would be fine with me.

Lost levels was sadistic. I finally got around to clearing the game 100% and I would literally spend over an hour on a single castle at times.

Hopefully this will actually be a challegen. SMG was wayyyy to easy. Hopefully SMG 2 will be like the Japanese version of the the SMB 2, like MusiKon mentioned!
