The DS RPG Dragon Quest IX has become one of the few games to recieve a perfect 40/40 review score from popular Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu.....

Amazon Japan may not love DS role-playing-game Dragon Quest IX. That's a-okay. Know why? The country's biggest game mag totally loves it.

Famitsu has given DQIX a perfect 40/40 score. "This adventure is amazing!" Famitsu writes. "It's so much fun." The reviewers also praised the music and the multi-player, which Famitsu called "ground breaking". The publication calls the single player "fun" and states that "the story is easy to follow and straightforward, but also with moving scenes as well."

Wow, I am grabbing the import most likely today, but during my time with a friend's copy I think Famitsu is once again inflating the score for a "traditional" jrpg ...

It has some great things going on, but a perfect score? Whoa. The adventure so far is interesting, it is enjoyable and the music is good, but "amazing" "so much fun" and "ground breaking" = wut?

    How Famitsu Reviews Work

    1. The reviewers sit down and play the game.
    2. They score it.
    3. They look at the details for the game.
    4. "Square Enix?"
    5. Then with an impish grin, they hunch over their pads. "Another 5 points..."

Yeah that works, except they automatically start a game off with 30/40 points anyway, like a freebie.

As much as I love Level 5, I still don't trust Famitsu.

nothing deserves a perfect score, highest should be a 39.9/40
