New Final Fantasy XIII Character Details: Meet Hope Estheim

New Weekly Shonen Jump scans have revealed some new information on the young male character that appeared in the Final Fantasy XIII E3 trailer. Say hello to Hope Estheim.

According to Famitsu, they will also be revealing a new character next week, but it isn't known whether Hope is this character.

Presumably from Weekly Shonen Jump, the focus is heavy on the white-haired boy seen in the E3 2009 trailer. The article states that his name is Hope Estheim.

According to the details revealed about him, his weapon is a boomerang. There's also a bit of friction between himself and Snow, following the events occurring in the demo when Hope's mother falls from a ruined bridge. To add to that, a point is made about his short temper. Also mentioned is how he hugs Vanille.

    .....That's a dude!? No way,looks too much like a girl to be a dude,and that name seems more like a girl's name. Maybe his parents wanted a girl ? I hope that thier information is simply wrong and he is really a girl.

      TBH I thought it was pretty obvious it's a boy, or maybe I'm just getting used to Nomura's designs?

      Hope is definitely a boy though - he was a male VA in the trailer.

    I think it's obvious that it's a boy. He's not very manly looking because he's a boy. He's like 14 or something like that. But Hope? Really? I saw the title and thought it was a new female character. What a nice surprise...

      It's gonna continue like this until after FFXIII is released in Japan.

      The Tokyo Game Show is soon-ish though.

      It wouldn't make any sense for them to be showing anything for Versus. Versus isn't coming out this year. XIII is. As horrible as it sounds, that's the way it is, deal with it.

      And he was the Hooded kid during the Demo, sitting in front of Vanille.
