It looks like that move to New York and San Francisco didn't sit well with a lot of Nintendo's employees. Apparently, 90% of Nintendo of America's sales and marketing staff chose to resign rather then move.

Now that the June deadline date for Nintendo of America staff has reared its head, the fallout from Nintendo’s Sales and Marketing move has been leaked. According to our sources, approximately 90% of the Nintendo of America Sales and Marketing Staff has decided not to make the move to either San Francisco or New York, thereby taking a severance and leaving the company.

Three key executives will be leaving Nintendo of America, including Senior Director of Public Relations Beth Llewelyn; Vice President, Marking and Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan; and Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison. When these three will actually depart the company is unknown at this time, however, we’re betting on the fact that they’ll stay with Nintendo of America until the upcoming E3 show is over.

I haven't heard of any of these people, but I knew they wouldn't move like that. I wasn't surprised and I like them where they are now. Hopefully they stay, or the results could be disasterous.

Wow, both Perrin Kaplan and George Harrison are resigning? They were pretty iconic figures for Ntards to tell you the truth. Particularly Kaplan, who some may remember for her... interviews with IGN. It goes to show you that relocation is always a big thing, particularly when it's to an entirely different city. :\

Now that Kaplan is gone, who is going interview Matt Cassamassina on the floor of E3?

That's a bit sad. Though at least it doesn't mean there won't be replacements, and it's not the firing of hundreds of employees. *cough cough* Sony *cough cough*

Of course it's not a sign of the end for Nintendo. In fact this moves is likely a sign that Nintendo is starting to get even more serious about PR, since both New York and San Francisco will have bigger ad and marketing firms that they can tap into. Nonetheless, it is indeed very sad to see three Nintendo stalwarts with years of experience at company finally leave for whatever reason. That's the thing about Nintendorks like myself, we get attached to all of Nintendo's personalities both in and out of the game. Well, Reggie's still here at least.

I'm surprised that 90% didn't move. It takes a lot to just pick up and go somewhere else let alone a whole new state / province / country / planet etc. A lot of people probably had family around them or other situations where moving was just not an option; Nintendo or not.

The North American HQ is in Redmond, Washington I believe. NY is on the other side of the country! San Fran isn't as bad, though. I can see Nintendo's position on this, however. The major locations for companies in the US these days would be California or NY.

Now, this is where the Wii is starting to fall apart. Their executives are all leaving, and now, this can be fatal to sales if most of them dealt with future games being made. The Wii games sales will skyrocket downwards, while Microsoft and Sony will laugh at Nintendo.

What are you talking about, Thes10ownsyou? Kaplan, Harrison, and Llewelyn have nothing to do with future games being made. They are not developers in any way. They're just involved with the sales and marketing staff, which handles the media and whatnot.

This in no way affects any games in development by Nintendo.
