I guess touch screen controls aren't enough for Nintendo. Now they're releasing a peripheral that plugs into the GBA slot. This peripheral recognizes sliding movements when placed on a flat surface. It will be packaged with the new Nintendo IP: Slide Adventure: Mag Kid.

Not content with making yet another touch screen game, Nintendo decided it was time to create an entirely new control scheme for the DS. Enter the slide controller. Plug it into the GBA slot, place the DS on a flat surface, and the controller picks up sliding movement.

IGN's translation of the latest Famitsu has a preview with more details. The peripheral will be packed in with a brand new Nintendo IP: Slide Adventure: Mag Kid. Mag Kid has magnetic powers that allow him to pick up various objects in order to solve puzzles.

Sounds like a cool addition, but I think the touch screen is good enough. The DS is a portable system, and we don't always have a flat surface at hand. You would only be able to use it when you had a good flat surface.

Innovation is what makes Nintendo great, but is the game any good?

The game doesn't sound too interesting, but the peripheral itself sounds pretty damn cool. Like King said though, you won't have a flat surface everywhere so the peripheral will restrict some of the portability the DS provides. Let's hope this works out to be a hit.
