Sony announces 3-hour press conference

At GamesCom, Sony has locked in a 3 hour slot. Only speculation is available at this point in time as to what Sony will announce during their 3-hour block of time.

That’s right folks, three whole hours. According to VG247, SCEE has confirmed that they will hold a press conference August 18, 2009 at 18.00 – 21.00. So far there is nothing coming out of Sony but the guys at VG247 are pretty credible.

    Oh this is golden. I bet they will actually announce the Slim now, possibly a price drop and definitely more info on the new PSP.

    Perhaps cross-game voice chat too? Or is that too much to ask from Sony...

    I'll take more online features for the PS3, and Remote Play features . . . coming VERY soon.

    That, and more info on the PSP Go! that will make it more interested to me (though I won't buy it until it drops significantly in price)

    Seems like a good time to make a few big announcements; what with the holiday season coming up.

    I'm guessing it'll be a lot of dev-talk; but then again it is a straight Game Convention rather than last week's Dev one...

    eh i dont know...E3 is supposed to be when the big bombs are dropped, so wouldnt a price drop and the Slim be the biggest news? thats a lot more important than MAG i would say. i dont think MAG is gonna pan out the way Sony is hyping it up to.

      I hope it does. I really start to feel bad for games that are hyped up and then turn out bad. We need some awesome games, even if we personally wouldn't play it . . . the industry needs some great ones that stand out from the rest and push other devs to try even harder (and by try harder I don't mean up the graphics, I mean get creative).

        i just dont honestly know how 256 player matches are going to work, unless everyone playing has a 7 MB connection speed. especially if they plan on having the real-time fighting sounds going all around like where you can hear guns being fired by other players in the background, which they said is actually dynamic and not pre recorded sounds for ambiance purposes. thats a TON of data to be exchanging between all the players in the game at once.

        if they get it to work smoothly without much noticeable lag, it will be an amazing feat and i will be so psyched to get a PS3 and play it, but i just think its not gonna work out quite that well in this gen, by the time of PS4 ok, no problem.

    This will probably be mostly stats and hardware, but I'm guessing at least one significant announcement for the gamers will be in this conference somewhere.

    Yup it probably about psp go there seeing the hate comeing from stores and the ppl so they want to hype it up, not to be mess up but they can't talk about new features for the ps3 for 3 hours.
