Eve Online to have players govern CCP

huntyr | June 07, 2007 | News | PC
Employees of CCP, the company that created Eve Online have been caught giving out technical information to their friends. In an effort to stem the negative reaction they are getting from the players, 9 players will be elected from the subscriber base to audit CCP's operations.
“I envision this council being made up of nine members selected by the players themselves, where you announce your candidacy, and if you win the election, they come here to Iceland, and they can look at every nook and cranny and get to see that we are here to run this company on a professional basis,” said Mr. Petursson, CCP’s chief executive. “They can see that we did not make this game to win it.”

Now that's dedication to the players. Most companies would just gloss it over with a big update and forget about it. But no, CCP has to give the players opinions a voice and let them audit the company. This is a bad move in my opinion, however cool. Succumbing to your userbase's whining too often seems to me like setting up for failure.

I agree, most of their problems seem to be policies/procedures that can only be fixed by a professional audit that could take weeks to do
