Amazon has added recommended age field to all of their video game listings and according to the ranges given, people over the age of 20 shouldn't be playng video games.

Amazon has begun tagging video games with a "recommended age", based on their content. As you can also see, the age range tops out at 20. The company provides a similar service for the items listed in their Toys and Games department.

In other words, Amazon believes that video games are toys and that people over the 20 shouldn't be interested in them.

I could have sworn I commented to this article, but eh: I think this is a bit too technical to what Amazon considers an age group. Perhaps its a mistake on their part, but this is somewhat like putting words in Amazon's mouth. All in all, it shouldn't affect anyone, imo. Most people who purchase things on Amazon, games included, are over 20 anyway.

I'm sure that's exactly what Amazon was implying.

They put an age recommendation that has no effect on anything and does not even have to be paid attention to, considered or adhered to. What's the big deal.

I wish I could deliberately misinterpret for the sake of my own self-righteous nature.

Yet another example of a gamer who is way too eager to scream "They're saying things negative about video games!!!"

I may be a gamer, but I stand by my word still in that I say gamers can be the most emotional, quick to judgment, quickest to get offended (just say you don't like their game, or say something even remotely negative about video games), and defensive of a group of people. Generally speaking of course. There are exceptions.

VERY true. The slightest negativity against a game, console or games in general and you can get 100's of people abusing you.

Sometimes I'm ebarrased to be a gamer because of the fact.

Keep in mind the source: traffic is at stake here.
On the base level it seems like a legit concern but the author probably makes too big of a deal out of it...

It'd funny if they were recommending the mature games then. You know, the games that only people aged 17-20 play.

Ohlookgaiz, something we can cry about!

I knew a fair number of gamers were emo but it worries me when they start controlling the media.
