Gamestop, Amazon, and BestBuy all list Modern Warfare 2 as being $60 for, you guessed it, the PC. Not only is there a price hike, but for those willing to hurl their wads of cash at Activision, the Prestige Edition isn’t available for PC. T

This is only £36 in GBP.

Where on god's earth have you seen the PC game for £50 :/? RRP is £35 on Play, and that's not even the price they're selling it for.

i'd imagine it's pretty normal for things to cost different prices - even given the difference in currency values - from country to country..

Best bit about this was before the pound collapsed, we were already paying $60 for all new PC games in the UK anyway. Sometimes $70.

I'm just saying that even if the game was $100 90% of people who were going to buy it still would.

Hmm..$100? I don't think. Probably 70-80 at most. Even stupid people have limits.

PC games are typically $50 or even less because publishers don't have to pay extra fees to a manufacturer (i.e. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo), as is my understanding. This is pure greed. Activision gets what Activision wants.

As long as they don't fiddle around with the price of the console versions, it's all good. Most PC gamers will probably d/l it anyway, which was probably the 2nd main reason ( next to greed ) why Activision made the price higher. They couldn't care less about the PC market

Hiking the price isn't going to convert any pirates...

I would assume his point was that they're going to make up for the pirates by charging more to those that actually buy it.

On the otherhand the price is going to encourage more people to pirate it.

Beside the fact Call of Duty has always been primarily a PC series anyway, so I'm pretty sure they do care about the PC market, you seriously over-estimate the amount of people that will pirate and not buy it. Especially if they put in a decent registration system seeing as people are mainly buying it for online.

They hiked the price cos they're cuntnuggets that have already bumped up the console version's price to £55 (guess you missed that bit of news, sorry to be the one to let you know ), so they had to do it to PC too.
