Oddly enough, someone's got photos apparently showing the US military using X360 controllers to man their SUVG's (Small Unmanned Ground Vehicles). I guess it makes sense since game controllers are ergonomic, have excellent multiple multi-directional controls, and are quite portable.

The other possibility is that these two guys in the picture are planning some Gears of War after their work is done.

Haha, wow. That's actually pretty cool.

Like you said, it does make sense. The 360 controller is comfortable and it could be used to control just about anything.

I can see this as both a good and bad thing. Its good in the sense that the military seems to have found a good tool to control unmanned vehicles.

The bad. Anti video game people will be all over this saying things like "See, I told you using deadly devices in the real world was just like video games. They even use the controller."

    Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic.

Is it just me, or do those pictures look photoshoped?

Yep. It's most likely that they have been digitally altered.

it looks photoshoped but people will blame the 360 and VG's for killing people.

For those of you who think the image is photoshopped, you're wrong. There's a photo on the offical U.S Army website that clearly shows the 360 controller. See it here.

I wonder if they got permission to use a patented movie name as their robot's id.

What are they going to do, sue the U.S. Military? Good *bleep*ing luck with that one, Will Smith.

And that's why the United States Army beats the shit out of everyone else. You guys can have your fancy joysticks and mechanisms, we'll stick with our 360 controllers. Simplicity > complexity.
