If we can't control it, it can't be in China. That seems to be the mantra of the Chinese government these days. If they have no means to strictly regulate part of the media, it can't be allowed. While that may not necessarily be the case, it's bans like this that give off the impression mentioned previously. This ban affects games such as Grand Theft Auto and the Godfather.
For those who don't bother clicking the source: Blood and gore isn't being banned, but rather the offending themes that are often found in Grand Theft Auto style games.

It amazes me that they banned DeviantArt before this though
Just like a game where you go off killing japanese people for no reason whatsoever, wouldn't be good in a japanese culture. . .
It's easy to attack every ban on every game, but sometimes it's important to recognize why the ban occurs.
If this was a case of them not liking the message these types of games portrayed and it not fitting with their culture then it would be fine but in this case it's just another example of the government looking at Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and thinking 'we want in on that shit'. A small example in context but with a deep-seeded jackassery nonetheless. If you disagree, go ask Tibet.
