Electronic Theatre reports on the announcement that the official Final Fantasy XIV Online website has been opened to the public, carrying some interesting details on the forthcoming project.

Announced at the Sony Pre-E3 Press Conference back in June and regularly grabbing headlines since, Final Fantasy XIV Online, Square Enix’s latest exploration of the Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) genre is certainly at the forefront of a lot of gamers’ minds. Earlier this week, details on the revised Job System and the world in which the game was set were revealed, but today the hype machine has stepped-up a notch.

    looks like final fantasy. i guess that's not totally bad.. might consider it if the fees aren't laughably high (they will be).

      What do you consider to be laughably high? Most pay to play charge 10-15 dollars.

    There isn't a fee for creating a character in FFXI.
    Most games online operate with buying the game, and then paying a monthly fee.

    Maintaining servers for an online game isn't cheap!
