OXCGN had the opportunity to go early to the Xbox, Bungie event last Thursday and get a ride in the real-life Halo Warthog, talk with Curtis Creamer, and have over 1.5hrs hands-on with the upcoming Halo 3: ODST . . .

See how Bungie, WETA Studios and Microsoft presented this event in their usual high dollar fashion, it was an excellent night, and yes, the warthog ('Hog) is fully operational!

Halo 3: ODST is releasing in just over a month and for the Halo fans the countdown has already begun. Everyone is gearing up for yet another stunning installment of the great Halo franchise.

Bungie, along with Microsoft Australia, held a special V.I.P Halo 3: ODST event on the evening of Thursday 6th of August at Sydney’s *bleep*atoo Island for fellow Xbox Community Site members and lucky winners of various competitions held throughout the prior week and as always, OXCGN was there to dig through the rubble and report back.

It was great mate, I'm no spring chicken as you might know, but it was fun plonking my backside in the 'Hog and being whirled around the carpark area on *bleep*atoo Island in the afternoon before the fans arrived that night.

Nerdy or not, it was fun.

When I saw C.ockatoo, I thought perhaps it was a typo...now I see why it was necessary.

You could always go rapper style and spell it with a K, or more appropriatly considering the nature of this site, say it has to do with Mortal Kombat. somehow

I'm FAR from a Halo fan but damn that would be good to see up close and personal.

I'm not a huge Halo fan either, but the event showed that young and old have one thing in common, having a good time, enjoying gaming and dropping all the BS that is shown on the net these days.

No harsh words or anything like that. Inside, we were all 'kids' having fun, and enjoying the evening and what was on offer.

WETA is so damn talented at what they do. man they can build just about anything imaginable. hopefully one of these days they will be able to make a real working Energy Sword, with an actual energy blade

The crash site was built, from scratch in FOUR DAYS, that's from thought to completion including making all moulds and equipment required, nothing from any other sets was used.

The Hog was constructed over a SIX week period - again, from conception and getting the nod, to final turn-key . .that's is amazing, considering everything including the chassis and suspension was handbuilt, nothing in the car was standard equipment.

SO yes, they certainly know their stuff . . .

i believe i heard the chassis was taken from some SUV, like a Toyota or something, but thats all they used is the wheel base and everything else was custom made. still impressive either way.
