A Possible Wii Microphone Add-On

A Nintendo sales rep, while not confirming the existance of such and add-on, has strongly suggested at the possibility. The picture attached is only a mock-up, but it does look rather impressive.

Recently I wrote a letter to Nintendo of America regarding a topic on this site: "An Inside Look at the Wii's Magic Wand An Audio Translator".

I didn't really expect anything other than the normal customer services spiel about not giving out any details of future plans, or the even more infamous 'We cannot comment at this time'. But, when I got my reply I was surprised by the answer!

Naturally, I came straight to WiiLoaded to post my findings :)

    This makes sense if the Wii for online games such as Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but I can't think of any other games that would fill the need. Unless there's an MMORPG or something, this might not sell too well.

      Well, if the Pokémon games for the DS have voice chat, why not the Pokémon game for the Wii ?
      Actually, if AC:Wii gets popular as the DS one, it WILL NEED the michrophone (it is a pain to write with the screen -_-).
      IMO, it will sell very good, we don't need it only for games, I bet that there will be channels in which you will need the michrophone =D.

    Looks like my Xbox 360 wireless headset just a longer mouthepiece and...a wire.

      It's probably just a prototype. The final one will probably be wireless.

    It would be very useful for certain applications. Definately a good invention.

    I could also see it serving a similar purpose as the Microphone with the Nintendo Gamecube's Mario Party 7 Game.

    It should be useful for online play. Also it may end up being used in games like future Mario Party games, like how the 6th and 7th game used a microphone.
