Usually Developers like to start from the beginning and finish in the end, well not with Rage. id Software is taking a different approach, by saving development for the first level last. They hope by the time they have reached working on the first level, they would use their experience through out the process to make the first level a great experience to hook you in.

According to Carmack, the concept behind building the first level last is giving the game a chance to breathe. If the rest of Rage has been designed it means id Software can take the lessons from the rest of Rage and make players' first entry into the Rage world the best experience possible.

That's an interesting way for them to develop the game, I just hope the first level isn't amazing and then the rest of it just overshadowed with how amazing it just was. When is this game even going to come out? I heard 2011, anyone know?

Most likely late 2010. This game has been in development for a long time the fact that this has been brought up signals that they are getting close to the end. They generally spend a year before release piling on the graphics and sorting the framerate out, so this game could be out as soon as October next year.

Before I had no interest. Then seeing a few trailers and I cannot *bleep*ing wait!
