New V-Jump scans have revealed some new information on the silver-haired character that appeared in the Final Fantasy XIII E3 trailer. If you thought Hope, Lightning and Snow had terrible names, say hello to Lieutenant Colonel Yaag Rosch.

According to the scans, Yaag wants peace for Cocoon's people and isn't a big fan of Lightning and Co. But he won't be a villain per se. Rather, he will play the role of the protagonists' rival. (Similar to the Turks in Final Fantasy VII, Seifer in Final Fantasy VIII, or Seymour in Final Fantasy X).

The scans also reveal some details on the summon Odin and his ridiculous-sounding attacks, including: Roaring Sword, Vacuum Breaker, Crying Heaven Ten Thousand Thunder, and his trademark Zantetsuken attack.

Well I was gonna say, "thats LIEUTENANT Colonel to you!" but you stealthily edited that in.

I like his role though - being a sorta side-antagonist.

As for the name, I don't really care, but I'm sure the Internet will explode with the usual "SE sucks" mumbo-jumbo.

I think I'll stick with just Rosch though. =P.

I don't mind him. At least he's not called Hope.

But he seems rather generic. I can see it now...

    End of first encounter:
"Urgh, I can't believe I lost to you."

    End of second encounter:
    "Why? WHY?"

    End of third encounter:
    "Y'all aren't too bad, need a hand?"

And at some point in the game, after he's joined the team, he'll go into a ridiculously long monologue on how he has been living in darkness for so long but now that his eyes have been opened he now believes Lightning and Co are fighting for the right cause (teary emotional music included), while his ex-fellow army men look on in horror.

I can see it now. Squeenix games just write themselves. XD

And let us not forget that in the end, he will sacrifice himself for a noble cause and Lightning will do something pathetic to honour him and for finally showing her how to feel feelings.
