That sucks. What else are they gonna work on? I don't really want another Fallout game. I'd much prefer Elder Scrolls 5 but I guess thats not gonna happen for some time.

Fallout has a bigger appeal than Elder Scrolls right now; plus there's already plans for Fallout: New Vegas early next year.

I could have sworn that they were working on an MMO Based on the Elder Scrolls series.

Fallout: New Vegas is not being made by Bethesda, I don't think.

I love the Elder Scrolls series. It needs more games! Doesn't mean there wont be any, though!

    FFFFUUUUUUUUU

I really liked oblivion. I guess RAGE is going to have to tide me over.

RAGE isn't out for at least another year. You will have to wait a long time without anything if you are only looking out for RAGE.

Meh, Oblivion is still satisfying me, and I still haven't finished it, so it's no biggie.

    I'm in two minds.

On the one hand I'd love another Elder Scrolls. I only got Oblivion a month or so ago but I love every second of it.

But maybe a new IP from them would be good too, I mean I'm sure people were skeptical about them making Fallout 3 but that turned out pretty epic, so maybe whatever non-Elder Scrolls project they have going will be just as good.

If they're not doing anything for the time being though I might just have to cut myself

I was kinda hoping they go Elder Scrolls > Fallout > Elder Scrolls > Fallout about every 3 years a cycle

Bullshit, Press conference or not, Beth Soft would be highly stupid to drop a series that has thousands playing it, not only that but I can't for the life of me think of a game where thousands of players have been continously playing a game 7 years after release (Morrowind) and 3 years after release (Oblivion)

Not only that but both games are the pinnacle to PC modding, Morrowind was the first ever game to feature PC ported expansion packs on a console and the Elder Scrolls in general whether anyone wants to believe it, revolutionised the RPG genre or at least the action/freeroam side of it.

Now regarding that Zenimax (the parent company) seem to be aiming for Beth Soft to be a publishing company as well as a devloping company, as well as the several contracts currently out there with Splash Damage and the other games currently in development. It is possible they are postponing the game and decided to use the "scare tactic" to see how many fans of the game series would frenzy into an uproar.

There are too many flaws in this to even believe Beth Soft would drop such a successful franchise, that's like them saying "we just bought Fallout franchise, we'll make Fallout 3 and then drop the franchise for good"

Also the fallout fanboys would rejoice at this kind of news

Lastly, this to me is a rumour or something taken out of context, the fact that no official word has been given about the Elder Scrolls online rumour keeps me in hope that the series is alive still, hell so does the Elder Scrolls V teaser they have on their site.

Regardless, pretty stupid of them to just "drop" it

Also for some reason the edit reply function isn't working. I would just like to mention "no current plans" just pretty much means "not at the moment" in the gaming world. Trust me I know.

"Current" when used within an announcement means "look towards the future, probably a year or two from now"

The fact they announced Elder Scrolls V to release for 2010 shows that, I also wouldn't trust Kotaku for a valuable source.

In fact no one can find an "official" quote concerning this and some people such as "UESP.net" (Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages wiki) fear that people are reading too deep into Howard's words.

Overall it maybe just the case that they need to delay the game and needed to buy some time without saying "hey guys going to be delayed, need some time kthxbai"

After all in the gaming world, nothing is clear as day and even when put into the most simple sentence, you still get people raging at you.

So at the end of the day, sit back, relax and just watch the story unfold.

No shit Sherlock. This does beg the question of why you wrote a novel previously when you know all this means is that they won't have one anytime soon, but will obviously have one coming in future.

Because there are many on the Internet that neglect to allow simple common sense into their head. By saying it here, I know thousands will read it (regardless whether they are a neoseeker member or not) Furthermore I reply to the article's comments here.

So this begs the rhetorical question of why comment on my post when you knew the answer that you would get back?

Your true answer was simply because you retardedly posted before thinking, I'm just curious as to what bullshit logic your defence mechanism of a brain would use to keep your ego safe.

Bethesda is working on a new IP called "Wet" which looks pretty cool. it will involve first person shooting, sword fighting sorta like DMC, and acrobatic stuff like Mirror's Edge.

      pooOBKp Aug 16, 09
Wet by far is the most interesting out of their three games in development and I'm stiff on the edge on if I'd consider buying it or not.

    Coi Cki Aug 16, 09
    Bethesda is just Wet's publisher.

Anyways, BethSoft always makes these comments.

It's like they are gauging the reaction to said projects. I personally hope this isn't true as really Elder Scrolls V would be the best thing to play. I remember the build up to Elder Scrolls IV, I know they lied about Radiant AI as it was never as good as the original trailers and the graphics were actually toned down in the final release but that was a great game. Elder Scrolls V could be incredible.

ah youre right, its being made by A2M. im sure Bethesda is still really involved in it though.

As usual, I agree 110% with SJ's flawless logic.

It's either a delay for more time, which is a good thing because then they can add even more content; or it's simply a scare tactic because Bethesda likes to screw with the bitchers and moaners of the internet.

Either way, I don't believe their bullshit for a second.
