Gabe Newell has stated many times that he has absolutely no intention of bringing Valve games to the PS3. Although he still stands by his decision to not develop for the PS3, it seems he is sorry for the treatment of PS3 owners. Here is exactly what Gabe said:

“If you look at the customers that I feel we’ve done the worst job at taking care of is the people who bought our product on the PS3 - Orange Box on PS3. Those are the people who I have trouble saying anything to other than ‘Yeah, I’m sorry. You have legitimate beef with us.”

The PS3 version of Orange Box (see it in the video below) was widely criticised for its poor performance and numerous glitches that made it noticeably inferior to the 360 and PC versions.

He's slowly building the bridges back. What will do that a damn sight quicker is Left 4 Dead 2 or Counter-Strike 2 on PS3 at some point. I know Gabe doesn't particularly like the PS3 architecture but he and his team can try and develop for it between projects. That is the least he can do especially considering he seems to be having a crisis of conscience, if he knows he's treating PS3 gamers bad then he's gonna feel even worse when he see's how much we want the other games they are bringing out especially Half-Life 2: Episode 3 for those that bought the Orange Box.

It interests me they openly acknowledge any of their faults...not sure what to make of Valve sometimes. Seems like Gabe is a great guy, but some of the other folks are not so great..I think they've mistreated PC gamers quite a bit in other ways.

I believe their business practice is to be above all overtly honest about everything. I am sure in a creative atmosphere that works well as bad ideas get shot down by everyone with an opinion, but it backfires on Valve when certain employee's get interviewed. One persons biased hate for a console whether it's hard to work with or they just plain lack the knowledge makes the whole company look bad. As you said I am sure Gabe is a great guy, but sometimes on the whole the whole company seems far too honest about the things they should really just keep quiet about.

        I'm referring mainly to Steam.

Let's face it, Microsoft are paying lots to keep some of these games exclusive and they're bound to fail on the PS3, sadly.

How exactly are any of those games bound to fail on the PS3 and how is Microsoft paying Valve to keep them on the 360 when Valve publishes their own games themselves?

For the second part Microsoft doesn't have to publish the game for the game to be a bought exclusive.

It's pretty obvious that Valve don't work with the PS3 at the moment because of their lack of resources. Their main play field is the PC and they make the most out of it as well since they don't have to pay royalties to Microsoft for putting it out on the PC.

You know Daweii, just because they work with Microsoft more doesn't mean Microsoft are the big evil corporation screwing over everyone else with all their money. There are more reasons than that, you know; not everything boils down to what you might read at playstationlifestyle.

Anyway, on an unrelated note: if Valve has trouble catering to the Playstation fanbase, there are two easy choices they can make: either don't bother supporting the PS3 so you can eliminate disappointing them with bad products, or get a specialized PS3 team and make the games properly.

Edit: because Hideo1 doesn't know who he's replying to

Im pretty sure its obvious that they dont develop on the ps3 cause they dont like it's architecture. It doesnt have to do with anything like dirty double deals or anything they just dont like it.

i guess you could put it like that. they really just have no idea how to develop for it.

Well, at least he has a legitimate excuse: not knowing the coding well enough to produce good games.
I'll give him that because it doesn't really sound stuck up or something.

Activision on the other hand. . . waiting for their apology (not necessarily to Sony, but to gamers for being such . . . nevermind). I won't hold my breath though.

tbh I say to Newell, gtfo my PS3 and keep making the PC games kick as much ass as they did back in the CS days

As bad as it may be to not develop on the PS3 I think Valve's time is better spent keeping to what they're good at, PC games.

The fact that these games get ported over to the 360 is simply because porting it over to the 360 is just as easy being that the two are so similar to code for where as the PS3 is a different story.
